Increasing the number of feats a player recieves...

I use a house rule identical to Shado's. The "trait" feats (a/k/a FRCS regional feats or OA ancestor feats) aren't part of any feat chain, and as such cause few balance problems if given out as "freebies." I wouldn't increase the rate at which characters acquire GENERAL feats, though, since this will mess with in-game power levels a bit.

I like your idea, but I would like to say something. Your system doesn't seem to have a pattern. I think that it would be easier if it had a set system, like how the normal feat distribution is every 3rd level.

Maybe you could keep the every 3rd level system, and you also gain a feat every 5th(not including level one). This still adds up to ten feats in all. But having 2 feats at level one does grant a great degree of customizeability.
