Well I think this should put it in perspective:
That feat is pretty much obsoleted by the 3e feat Improved Natural Armor (which is in the MM). Prereqs Con 13 and already having a natural armor bonus, with the effect of increasing natural armor by 1. Can be taken multiple times.

In 3.5e, the pre-req is just "has natural armor". Then Imp Natural Armor increases it by +1.

Armor Skin is [Epic] because it allows soft, fleshy humans to gain Natural Armor.

That does not mean Imp Natural Armor is [Epic] or that Armor Skin is weak. The expected audience is different.

why wouldn't this be a dodge bonues? I mean while mechanically it may be balanced, there isn't a good flavor/logical reason why this would work. I mean I could see the character sacrificing training in a weapon to be more able to dodge blows, but I couldn't see like, "I am naturally harder to hit." In any case, the dodge bonus always stacks, works vs touch attacks and is not affected by antimagic either. It just disappears when you're flat-footed.

I would agree - thsi should be a dodge bonus and make Dodge and Ccombat Expertise prereqs.

Well I'm just saying that it shouldn't be better than an epic feat! Inherent bonuses are pretty good, you know?

The epic feat doesnt reduce your BAB. I would have to say that even with double the bonus to ac the penalty is much, much higher.

thinking about it more, this feat is definately weak for most everyone unless you 1) dont plan on making any attack rolls or 2) can make up for the loss of BAB in other ways (like the cleric can). At which point it can be a nice feat to take.

I am not sure that I have ever played a character that would want to take it actually, feats are too few and far between generally and giving up a feat and a point of BAB is a pretty high price to pay ;) Though the bonus is definately nice, it has to be for that cost.
