Interested in a 3.5 campaign...

Out of curiosity, I might play a psion, although I've been told it's extremely overpowered. If the DM disapproves, I'll play a different class. I might also be interested in playing a good illithid or kobold (I have a reason as to why they are good, not evil). Thanks in advance.

I would also be interested in playing a 3.5 campaign. Eberron or Greyhawk would be great, but I'm flexible. Not sure what kind of character I'd like to play, maybe a warforged cleric if we're playing Eberron.

The power of the psion depends heavily on several metagame factors:
- Whether or not the DM knows psionics inside and out
- Whether or not the player knows how to handle a psion
- Whether or not the campaign has enemy psionics and antipsionics
- How many encounters take place each day

I find that a lot of DMs complain about psionics only because they don't grasp all the limitations or they don't have a place for it in their campaign world - and obviously a psion who is unique and unknown has an advantage when compared to a wizard or sorcerer in a world where magic is commonly understood.

The other big deciding factor is whether or not the DM rules that psionics effects are interchangeable with magical effects. I usually run things that way, so that dispell magic will end psionic effects, etc. It tends to keep the powers a bit more balanced while still allowing psionics in the game.

Well since it appears that the Weird Wars game I was planning on running here is going to flop, I just might try running a 3.5 game. It'll probably be a few days before I figure everything out, but I'll post a recruitment thread when I can.
