D&D (2024) Intersection of skill & tool proficiencies

So a character with the Performer skill and proficiency with a musical instrument gets advantage, but a singer with Performer skill just rolls normally.

Yeah, that's one of the things that bothered me about combinations--obvious options being orphans.

I ended up going beyond just adding "Voice" as an instrument, and instead made Artistic Styles (Dance, Poetry (includes prose and oration), Song, and Spectacle (you actually have to pick what you want here, like fire-eating or juggling)), that are interchangeable with musical instrument proficiencies.

1e for the win. I feel like it generous, but at least it's rules.

Note that is cubic feet, not linear feet. So 90 cubic feet of rock would be less than 1 ft of progress in a 10'w x 10'h tunnel.

Till somebody invents explosives or that dwarf sorcerer transmutation specialists who can simply transmute that stone to sand!

Think you meant Transmute Rock to Mud or Stoneshape.

Let's not forget miner tools that have been enhanced with various spell enchantments

You mean like the Mattock of the Titans? Or the Lyre of Building?

I use "Nature" for science and math,
Off-Topic, but I am shocked that in over 6 years of DMing 5e it never occured me to use "Nature" checks for science and math. I often stumbled over it "there is no check for science and math - well lets just do a INT check" and I am almost mad that I didn't come up with nature. Buffs that skill also slightly which is nice because at least in my games nature checks rarely come up. I will definitely use that from now on!
