Iron DM 2011

Read it, conspicuous absence of level or game system parameters. Got it.

It appears you're mistaken. 1500 words. At theborrom of the dialog box to enter the submission is a little counter with number of characters left; it begins at 1500 and counts downas you type.

Hmmm. Could have sworn that my test entry had a counter with 4500 characters (not words!) at the bottom.

Either way, though, one of the rules is: Keep it brief.

This is not only because my interest must be held, but, also, to test the ability of the author to say what needs to be said in the limited space and time and cut the rest of the crap away. It is not easy. It is Iron DM.

Ah, thanks for spelling out the meta-game aspect. That's something a participant unfamiliar with the process wouldn't pick up just reviewing old submissions.

I suppose that depends on how many old submissions you reviewed. Really, more information can often be gleaned in the commentary and exposition than in the submissions, themselves.

About the quiz format... Does hypertext formatting work work with the quiz setup? I'd hate to send a wall of text.

The quiz feature is brand new, so, honestly, I don't know for sure. My guess is, however, that hypertext does not work but BB code does (it has worked in the description and rules section, after all).

Don't worry too much about making it fancy though (especially with a character limit!). I just want to be able to read it. Put spaces in between the paragraphs and that should do it.

Just make sure you're finished with it before you press the button to close it; at that point, your entry is final.

I wrote up an entry in the quiz section and it allowed me 15,000 characters.

When I just went to the like you provide upthread, there is no indication on the entry page that my response was received or anything...though it does note that it has been taken 5 times...and yesterday, I think it said 4.

When I finished, it told me I'd be notified when it was graded (or reviewed or whatever the term was).

I just want to make sure that it was received. :)

Thanks.

I just wanted to say I played last year and it was a blast. My current schedule is super busy though, so I think I'm giving this round a pass.

It was received. Yours is the only one that has been completed (other than my test entry, which, obviously, won't count toward the 15).

I will not score until we have all entries in (I'm not even sure I can score them without deactivating the quiz).

It is definitely time-intensive, but may be less so than previous Iron DM Tournaments with the 15000 character limit (then again, probably not).

When the quiz is done will we be able to read everyone's entries or will you be the only one that sees them?

I will make sure that all entries and commentary on those entries are available for viewing in this thread.

Whoops. I did, in fact, know that. hahaha

Apologies. I had been reading a thread he/she had posted in earlier...

But, regardless...thanks to you, Rune! :D

No worries. It's just that sometimes I get summoned to a thread by mistake, and I'm all like, "What's up, everybody?" And then I realize that nobody is actually talking to me and it gets all awkward and stuff...

I'm going to bump this so more people can get involved. I plan on writing something, but am busy atm. How long do you intend to keep the quiz open, Rune?
