Iron Heros - What do you think of the Setting?

For those who either have it or who playtested it, what do you think of the "sword lands" setting in Iron Heros? Will you run your games there? Will you use something else?

I realize a lot of it isn't fleshed out, but from what little maybe in the main book I am looking for first impressions.

I'm actually thinking of using a subset of my normal D&D setting... :uhoh:

Much more thinking to do on this. But if I go forward with it, it might be wierd.

I like what I have read about it on some Iron Heroes thread. I won't use it however; I don't intend to play Iron Heroes nor use the setting.

Are they planning on releasing a setting book? I don't think it is scheduled and the rulebook only has a couple paragraphs on "Implied Setting"...

On the Iron Heroes forums, I suggested David Gemmell's world. But maybe that's just me. :-)

The Swordlands setting seems fine, but I already have a homebrew going (for a low magic D&D game) that I'm just itching to move over to IH.

It was my undestanding that the future supplements would expand on the setting a bit, particularlly the book for DMs, but I don't think there is a setting book as such planned.

Gemmell has a couple different worlds, but I agree that Iron Heroes definitely matches his writing style.

I think IH would work well with settings like Conan, Iron Kingdoms, or Dark Sun. Gritty, combat oriented settings where magic is powerful, but not ubiquitous.

I'm fusing Iron Heroes with the Arcanis sourcebook Serpent Kingdoms, and making the Masters the Ssethric, and the First are Ssethric-tainted humans(probably yuan-ti of some flavor).

Parts of the implied setting fit in perfectly with what I wanted to do- civilization just begining, barbarian tribes and humanoid threats all over, big portions of the map inscribed "Here be Dragons", all that fit in with my ideal low magic combat centric campaign. The creator race and the First left me kinda cold, though. So, I'll just make my own, and toss in the parts I agree with, and throw out what I don't like.
