Oof. Couldn't disagree with you more, on that one. Actually, I agree about 3E taking a lot of judgment out of the DM's hands, but I consider that a negative. Generally, agree, although I'm not a fan of what they did to Greyhawk in the 2E period.2E had the best campaign settings (including expanding on those from prior editions).
1E had the best adventures and overall "feel".
OD&D had the best "right out of the box" playability factor.
