Is anyone sticking with 3.5?

The 4th edition looks good to me.

But I and my group will be sticking to 3.5 for at least the next two years. We have any ideas we want to try out, a campaign going on... and we think the game system is just that good!

That having been said, we will take a look at 4E...

I will be staying with 3.5e (and maybe moving to Pathfinder) for my GMing as those are the rules I know. I am happy to play in 4e games and will buy the 4e player's handbook, but nothing else planned.

I really like Pathfinder Adventure Paths, and thus 3.5e or the Pathfinder RPG just fit well for me. Also, in truth, I have enough gaming stuff to last a lifetime - especially as I want to learn and GM Dark Heresy at some point.

Seeing as I started a 3.x campaign in January '07 and my campaigns usually last 4 to 6 years - I don't see starting up something based on 4E rules until somewhere around 2011 or 2012 (which by my calculations will be 3 or 4 years before 5E comes out).

But I say "based on 4E" because I find it impossible to run any ruleset without tweaking it to fit my group's playstyle - but we have already started houseruling in minor changes/additions inspired by 4E previews - for example we now have a "Second Wind" rule which is a (very) watered down version of healing surge.

We'll be finishing the shattered city adventure path in 3,5E, only 11th level @ the moment

I'm currently winding up my 3,5 (last ~10 sessions) but i then want to give pathfinder a run out to see how it works out.

Our new game (medieval SWAT / ALIAS) has only just started

our eberron DM is more of a 4E person so might want to try it, but the rest of us are still working through all the options on 3,5 for the foreseeable

not saying never, will be interested in reading the rules when released properly rather than listening to the wishful thinkers / doomsayers, but no rush.....

I may not adopt 4e until a year or two from now, when it offers at least some of the robust scope of material that 3.5e has now.
Yeah that's basically my plan too. One of my sticking points has been "will I be able to play the characters I want to play in this new edition," and while I'm not too certain of that right now, I imagine that state of affairs is going to change a year or two down the road. That also covers things like, on the DM side, reducing available classes to a subset for campaign flavor, and that sort of thing.

Also I don't have a lot of time for the game right now.

I haven't decided if I'll use Wilderlands again, or Known World or maybe something else. Heck, I might even use Kalamar.
If you've not tried Kalamar before, give it a shot. Over the past few years, it has become my setting of choice. My next campaign there should be starting in a few months. If all goes well, I'll start a second campaign in the Known World / Mystara.

But we are also playing M&M and that's going well and I have a Buffy game starting this week.
I was in a year long Buffy campaign a few years ago. The GM was a Buffy fanatic and did a great job running it. On the fun factor, it was the of the best campaigns I've been in.

I'll be sticking with my game system of choice. Pathfinder and 4E look to have good ideas to steal, but I doubt I'll buy them. I can see myself getting talked into playing them, though. I seriously doubt I'll ever DM them, or buy into 4E like I did 3E. I do like what I have heard/read about the 4E DMG, so I may buy that. Still, very doubtful, and very low on my "Things to buy" priority list.

It's a point of policy with me to try what's new.

That doesn't mean 3/3.5E has suddenly become 'bad' or 'stale.' I enjoy that game and I will continue to play it whenever I please.

4E? Of course I'll try it. If I don't like it, I'll put it aside for a few years and see if it matures into something worthwhile. I've tried to discuss it with others, and especially with quite a few of the more rabid fans ... unfortunately, there hasn't been enough solid information for me to tell if I will enjoy it. No problem. I'll just try it and see what it has to offer.

I will also look into Pathfinder. The professionals at Paizo are talented and they work hard to produce quality products.

I'd like to go back to BECMI, although it might be easier to find a group for 3.X. Or depending on time constraints, I might end up dropping gaming. In any case, I'm not going to 4E.
