Yeah, TPKs aren't quite as painful if you're laughing at how they all died. As a player, my PC once got the entire party barbecued by a dragon because we decided to try to kill the monster while it was sleeping, and in a way that would leave the hide undamaged (remember 2E's rules about dragonhide armor?). So my thief was sneaking up on the dragon with a gold-plated 10-foot pole (cost a fortune), which he was to insert into the dragon's <ahem!> while the rest of the party had loaded up on every kind of lightning/electrical spell or item they could find...

Funny thing is, my thief was the last to die!

Wasn't snippy. The last few polls I posted people argued about certain word meanings. So, to make sure that doesn't happen I provided a definition. And like I said in one of those previous polls I knew someone would come along and have a problem with me doing that.

I don't have a problem with you posting *a* definition. My "problem" (barely that), is that the OP implied that the link to wiki would settle the issue. The nature of the question makes the definition one of the central areas of discussion on the topic, and the OP seemed to be to be trying to discourage discussion of the definition. But anyone who speaks English almost certainly has a functional definition of heroic. So IMO a definition is really an important part of understanding someone's answer in this case. In fact, seems to me like most people have ignored the wiki definition and went right on to recognizing potential differences in definitions (as I noted with the Illiad example).

I find a five or so word question very simple. The answer on the other hand is not so simple.

That possibility crossed my mind, except that it seemed both redundant and against colloquial usage that I'm familiar with. When someone says "simple question" where I'm from they usually mean "easy question" meaning that the answer is easy to give. Must be a regional thing. :\

Hey, I'm just offering a definition for those that want one. You'd be amazed on hard it is to control people.
