D&D 5E Is Descent to Avernus a sequal to Baldur's Gate?

Well Descent into Avernus is more than a sequel. According to WoTC and Larian Stuidos, it is actually a prequel to Baldur's Gate III. Supposedly, despite the main cruz of the module focusing on Avernus and Zariel, , it will have some kind of "effect" upon Baldur's Gate III.

Although, due to the substantial amount of time in between them, you could probably treat it more as standalone despite what was led to believe. shrugs.
