Is disarm useless?

I've a vauge recollection of rule in one of the splatbooks that says a monk using BOTH hands to disarm can count them as a medium weapon. Maybe someone with a better memory (or who plays a monk) can confirm that?

IDHMBIFOM here at work but that rule is in Sword & Fist as an optional variant, in the same section as the Bow variant (WF/WS switching from normal to composite forms). I believe it allows a character who uses both hands to disarm to count their hands together as a Large weapon (giving them a +4 bonus over a medium weapon) and IIRC it also allows the monk/character to grab the weapon instead of just forcing the opponent to drop it.

I'm sure about the location of the rule, but not sure about the specifics. Can anyone verify this?

Thanks!

P.S. Oh, kreynolds, I DO have lots of large metal objects here at work if you want to borrow one or more! :D

No, I'm good. I found a paper weight on my desk and that worked out just fine. Actually, it worked out too well. Turns out it was a stapler. Ouch.

I'm sorry, were you saying something? I wasn't paying attention. Sheesh. There's nothing worse than a trolling flame-seeker.

An AoO can be any kind of attack: a diaram, a trip, a grapple, anything.

If grapple is an option for an AOO, then you should be able to take an AOO if you are unarmed, and make that AOO a grapple.

As for the buffy discussion, the Sci-Fi message board on ENWorld was made for exactly this kind of discussion. In fact, Buffy was mentioned by name when that board was created. Please take your Buffy discussion to that board. It does not belong here, and is bothering some of your fellow ENWorlders.

How do you figure that? You can make an AoO when unarmed with the proper feat.

The discussion has been over for a little while now. These type of things do happen. You just skip that post. If it happens to get out of hand then the moderators say something. But, if you keep quiet and allow them to run their course they go away.

You are way too high strung, you know that? ;)

Crothian. I can't find anything in the books that says you don't threaten an area when unarmed. Nothing at all. So, if you threaten an area while unarmed, you can make an AoO anyways.
