Is Dragon 309 out?

Yeah, it's probably been reworked somehow, but it shouldn't be tied in with Bluff. Bluff and UMD are both highly valuable skills on their own, there's no need to combine them into a super-skill.

Wouldnt be the first time. Heck look at all Tumble can do.

IRT Wild Empathy- Wasnt this supposed to be hooked to Handle Animal? Why the heck would you switch it to Diplomacy? Unless HA is gone now too....

I have never read an issue of dragon, but I've been on teh boards enough to hear you guys talking about them all the time. But a whole list of different numbers come up, lately issues 309, 99, and 100 have come up. Are people just talking about really old issues... or is there something I'm missing?

Read close. The ones refering to 99 & 100 are DUNGEON.
308 and 309 are DRAGON.

Magic missile is off of the Bard's spell list, and it mentions they have an inside track on Enchantment and Div. spells.

Was magic missile on the Bard's list in 3e at any point?

MM wasnt on the Bards list at all, perhaps hairy minatour is purveying incorect info? (no offense intended, but perhaps some more clarification is needed concerning some of the info).

As an aside when I skimmed the front page I missed the operative word "excluvise" before skills, and interpreted as class skills were being removed and that any skill was up for grabs.
Kinda got my hopes up high I would love for that to be real, sneaky fighters, survial trained wizards, erudite rogues, man that would be fun.

Hmm...... I rechecked that paragraph (under more options, better Archetypes) the article states that Bards casting MM just seemed odd to people.

The skill bit is interesting. If Wild Empathy is tied to diplomacy, that should mean it's on the Druid and Ranger class skill lists -- or perhaps this is an error and it was to be "like diplomacy" and tied to Handle Animal (which seems more likely).

I'd expect them to do something similar with UMD to prevent more classes from taking it -- a "Use Magic Device" ability gained by bards & rogues at a slightly higher level, perhaps, tied to some other ability to "power" it -- like bluff, similar to the bardic music-Perform linkage, which we already know is changing slightly as well.

It states that when the Animal Empathy skill was removed, they gave Rangers and Druids the class ability of Wild Empathy, but you have to have skill ranks in Diplomacy to make it work effectively.

Hmm. Which would then suggest that Druids & Rangers get Diplomacy as a class skill. Interesting.

Edit: Reviewing the Dungeon 100 statblocks doesn't confirm or deny any of this, unfortunately. Of four ranger or druid stat blocks, only one had ranks in diplomacy -- a whopping 2, not enough to draw conclusions from. The rangers didn't have ranks in Handle Animal, either. Guess we'll just have to wait for the rulebook!
