Is Eberron a dead world yet?

Does it seem like something that they could better support when 4E does come out? I'm speculating that they may look for yet another world..or perhaps an evolution into player designed worlds such as is happening online.

....Dude, this doesn't help your case. ;)

If this is what makes you think that Eberron is a dead world, you're giving too much credence to the 4e rumors, I think.

Sorry to sound Trolly, but I'm not. I'm just wondering. I've not been in the product loop for a while and with all the speculation going on about 4E, I really wondered what's up.
Greyhawk has been around as an official setting since 1e. FR for slightly less time. Darksun, Raveloft and Planescape still receive online support from other publishers.

Even if we get a4e there is no reason to think that Eberron will be dropped. Sure, its divided opinion but then so does FR but if it sells Wizards will publish it.

Even if it is dropped someone is likely to try and obtain the license as it has a ready made market.

Is there still 4E speculation going around? I haven't heard any peeps on that front in a while (knocks wood).

I don't like Eberron (and it has nothing to do with trains and robots, but more along the lines of warforged PCs and APs), but I don't wish it to die, by any means. And I don't think it's dying, either. To each his own, it's all good.

Yet another in a long line of "my local gaming store / my local group / me personally doesn't like / play / sell / use setting X, therefor setting X is dead / dying / a waste of WotC's resources / part of a big conspiracy to destroy D&D".

Move along... nothing to see here.
In fairness, from a FLGS standpoint Eberron may very well be a poor seller - it can be bought anywhere, Waldenbooks, Borders, B&N, Amazon.... There is little need to seek out a FLGS if you are content with Eberron as the setting and DDM for the figures.

I would not say that Eberron is dead, or even resting. I am more annoyed with the word 'yet' in the title of this thread than I am with the question itself - it is presupposing that Eberron is indeed dying, and without any real evidence to make that claim. Now a general 'Are RPGs Dead Yet?' might be closer to a legitimate question, since RPG sales are down over a wide area.

Ah, but are RPG sales down more than they were in 1996? I recall many folks thinking that the end was nigh for RPGs as TSR was curling up and dying. Things don't seem as bad now as they did then, but that's just anecdotal, I suppose.

And Eberron isn't dead, even if you use a loose definition of "dead" as "no longer being actively supported" (dead to me is "no longer has an active player base" -- there are very, very few games out there that can truly be called "dead" in my mind). Eberron is about as actively supported as the Forgotten Realms at this point. It has an active player base, Wizards are putting out adventures set specifically in Eberron as well as sourcebooks, there is still an active line of novels coming out for it -- nothing about this says "dead" to me.
