BK is my favorite among the fast food joints, (AKA, the only oneI'll willingly eat at) but those commercials and the earlier ones with the singing cowboy have almost driven me away....

speaking of creepy commercials -

Morgan Stanley. "when you invest with morgan stanley, you get a stalker."

That brawny commercial with the really weird semi pornographic vibe and the guy baking a cake. What on earth is that?

LOL
I totally agree about the Morgan Stanley ones. :uhoh:

The Brawny one makes me laugh.

The Burger King is kind of creepy, especially in the coffee ads. It's funny to think that long, long ago he was the chain's advertising icon, just like Ronald McDonald or Jack. Don't know why they quit using him.

Just remember that the 'King back then was an actual bearded guy, not this creepy-as-heck-plastic-monstrosity. :)

Everybody I know is creeped out too

Burger King comes up with some really stupid advertising campaigns. Remember "Herb" from way back? That one was a stinker too. Wonder if the same yutz who thought that one up was given a second chance or something. Again, it aint workin.

Nope, completely different agency. (Herb was 20 years ago...and that campaign got that ad agency fired.)

This is going to blow some of your minds, but...Burger King is *thrilled* with their current advertising (done by Crispin Porter + Bogusky). It's weird stuff, but it seems to work with their target (men 18-29), and has gotten BK more "talk value" than they've had in years.

Yeah, everyone is saying how creepy the plastic King is! No one gets the product names wrong either, just read back in this thread... That is effective, albeit creepy, advertising.

So, how are you going to use the BK in your campaign?

The Burger King is creepy, but the ads are also funny. Whoever designed the headpiece made it look very realistic and yet surreal, and it's somehow very expressive considering that it's completely immobile. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with him next. I just hope they don't milk it to death like so many other popular ad campaigns. Jack-in-the-Box's ad agency deserves an award for keeping the Jack ads so fresh for so long.

The earlier one with the BK creepy guy in the bed was the first one to catch my attention (I think it's where the guy opens the door and BAM! there's a creepy guy).

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that finds these ads creepy.
