Yes it is okay to be mad.
But many people have turned mad into stupid.

I am not going to boycott WotC, but I am going to ignore the Digital Initiative, and hope that it goes away.

It is perfectly okay to get mad at stuff.... about... stuff. I get mad at stuff all the time. For instance, today I was mad at the rain for... you know... falling on me. Tomorrow I will likely be mad at the sun for shining in my eyes. Later on today, I'm going to be mad at my butt for making horrible sounds and smells.

What is not okay is breaking the rules of posting, insulting people, accusing them of crimes against humanity, calling them traitors, and so on.

For instance, saying, "I'm angry!" is okay, and possibly even healthy. Saying "Wizards ate my baby!" on the other hand, is not okay, and probably not healthy.

On another note... Intending to derail threads and stating your intention to derail threads about a specific topic is also probably not an advisable behavior on a message board, or any other communication medium... where the purpose is... you know... communication.

Remember what robot devil says, "You can't have your character just state how they feel! That makes me angry!"

Of course it is, as long as you don't do or say anything stupid as a result of that anger.

I mean, I'm P.O.ed about the cancellation, but I'm not going to do anything to get myself kicked off of a messageboard, and I'm not going to boycott otherwise good product that will hurt the writers of that book who had no say in the cancellation.

I will, however, not subscribe to Dragon or Dungeon online- not merely because of my anger, but because I intensely dislike the online magazine format in general.

Lemoncurry. That's the nonsense option preferred 'round here. I'm even more fond of "I'm Brannich Blacksmoke" but that may be more of a NTL and CM thing than an ENWorld thing.

Is it OK to be mad to WotC? Of course it's OK. It's also impotent and fairly nerdy, in my opinion, but it's certainly OK. Expecting that everyone else will join you in your self-righteous fury, or that you should make a passive aggressive sideswipe at WotC every chance you get (like, if the website is down for a moment, for instance) is not OK in my book.
