Is Polyhedron Lame or what??

The RPGA itself still supports numerous game systems through scenarios (especially in the UK), but for the time being, at least, Polyhedron is embracing the d20 side of things. It's my hope that the different genres and options presented in the d20 mini-games will please enthusiasts of multiple systems, though that may be wishful thinking.

As for UK members not getting their issues. . . tell me about it. It's a major hassle for both the US and UK RPGA staffs, as well as my team here in Periodicals. Unfortunately, UK privacy laws currently make it impossible to share the UK members' address list with a US firm (like WotC) unless members specifically give their permission to have that information shared. As I understand it, Ian Richards is working with Hasbro legal to work out such permissions, but doing that is taking an enormous amount of time.

Everyone's hoping the situation gets resolved as soon as humanly possible.

Living Greyhawk Journal?

Erik,

I'm in the UK and joined the RPGA to get the Living Greyhawk Journal. I got the first four issues, plus one UK Polyhedron (#8) and four others (144-147).

Is there any news on when I can expect to get Living Greyhawk Journal number 5. I'm not too bothered about Poly/Dungeon as I already have a Dungeon subscription (although it would be nice to get my subscription extended by one issue).

BTW, very pleased with the combined magazine, although I don't like the flip concept either.

Cheers

Richard

I've gotta say, I had never had any interest in Polyhedron till the new combo mag with Dungeon. Now I make a point to at least check them out at the game store, if not buy them. I think the new format is great.

I also agree with Erik, give the Spelljammer stuff a chance to see the light of day before bashing it. I'm no Spelljammer fan, but slamming it preemptively isn't fair to whoever is working on it.

Polyhedron

Can't WotC just give the issues of Polyhedron to the UK RPGA people to distribute as a stop gap measure while this all gets sorted out?

Polyhedron has turned out to be a better value than I thought, now that it includes a whole D20 game inside.

My only complaint is that it seems overly focused on modern era rpgs. There was tremendous interest when the Spelljammer issue was announce. I say WotC should bring back all the D&D worlds in Polyhedron. Let's have a Darksun issue, a Dragonlance issue, a Hollow World issue, etc. Something normal Dungeon magazine readers (i.e., D&D players) can use!

I completely agree with 7thLvlDm (cool handle BTW) seeing all the old settings as d20 mini games in Polyhedron would be fantastic!

ooooo Gamma World d20!!

Al-Quiam d20!

So many good settings it hard to know what i would want the most first !:)

And to Erik Mona I have say the new format is excellent. I love having both mags in one and the fact that the cover rpice hasn't even gone up is a classy move IMO. Of course if it does go up I'll be [j/kmode on] COMPLETELY DISGUSTED! I"LL BURN YOUR SHOES, SHAVE YOUR CATS AND BOIL YOUR GOLDFISH I'LL...[j/k mode off] be happy to pay the extra :D

I didn't join the D20GA, I joined the RPGA.

Much as I like D20 and 3rd Edition D&D I feel that if everything goes over to D20 and we don't look at other systems. Then we start to end up with a 'limited gene' pool so to speak and so new ideas won't be given a chance to develop or get intergrated in the hobby.

I stopped buying White Dwarf as it just became a long advert for Games Workshop games, and nearly everything in it was tasters of upcoming books/armies.

Thankfully Dragon, Dungeon and Polyhedron arn't that bad, since the information in them isn't always reprinted and does explore ideas outside the 'norm' on occasions. I can understand the D20 focus of Polyhedron at the moment but I hope if looks at other systems (even if only to show how they could be converted to D20) in the future.

I suppose that's the problem with an organisation that claims to support all roleplaying games being owned by a company that will obviously only want to support its own games.

Another vote for "Or What"

Polyhedron: Difinitive D20 is the reason I resubscribed to Dungeon, after letting it lapse for a month. I kind of wish they'd give Poly more space, and scale back Dungeon, actually.

I really like the Polyhedron that has been in Dungeon. I never saw an issue of the old one. I hope it continues in the d20 vein. I realize that folk like DMaple would like more than d20 covered, and I hope that WotC can figure out a way to accomodate both sides.

While it is a good suggestion, they can only print out six issues a year, and this year they mainly want to focus on the upcoming d20 Modern RPG, by getting feedbacks from us. Although introducing something like Spelljammer this year would be a good break from the modern-era RPG.
