Economic crisis or no, I gots no money, so I buys no books.

Any discretionary budget I may have had got distilled, and poured into the gas tank of my car.

Ironically, with the dropping gas prices due to the wall street meltdown, I've almost gotten caught up enough on the bills to get Adventurer's Vault. So, I guess, the economic crisis has INCREASED the amount I'm spending on game books; from absolutely nothing, to almost something!

I took my gaming budget and invested it in stocks this month while prices were cheap. Partially that was because I just couldn't pass up some of the excellent opportunities, partially it was because I felt a patriotic urge to bolster the economy, but mostly it was because there weren't any gaming books I was really interested in this month.

It's interesting to me that several of the "Not at all" posts seem to be predicated on the point "I'm not buying game books, anyhow."

Nope, things are going pretty smooth here. Could be too that apparently Canada is #1 in the world for being able to ride out the crisis well.

Fellow Canadian and I agree wth this...

In fact, just recently, Saskatchewan government did a tradeshow and they were offering jobs at twice the wage I'm currently working in....

Alberta and Saskatchewan are freaking booming, only reason I'm not moving is I'm comfrotable and it is DAMN cold in those provinces (and this is coming from someone in Ontario...)

That's my situation - I'm only playing 1e these days, and there's not a whole lot coming out for that system to demand my money!

This is sad but true. For me, almost all of my gaming purchases are going into boardgames, so I'm still buying something from my FLGS. I did think of my other big purchase recently: Anima. That will keep me occupied for a while.

I wasn't buying anything during the last couple years of 3.5, and now I'm buying a good amount of 4e. The new edition is causing a lot more spending than the economic situation is preventing.

Now, if one were to ask how my almost-2-year-old son was impacting the amount I spend on my action figure collection, you'd get a different answer. ;)

If anything, the crisis has made it so I do more gaming purchasing. Compared to other forms of entertainment, gaming is classified as a kind of inferior good imho. $30 for two 2-hour movies or $30 for 100+ hours of gaming?
