Is there errata for the Nightmare spell PHB p.232

Super duper simple solutions:

If you dont have rope trick, then buy a scroll or two. A couple hundred gp and you're set (copy it into your spellbook, cast the one and sleep for one night, then rememorize one each day as long as the lich keeps trying to get you)

Or, you can always get a scroll of nightmare or two. If you know who is casting this on you (which you do, as you have identified him as the evil lich), then just use his own "uber" tactics against him and cast nightmare on him. Better, if you're a 9th level caster (which you should be if you're fighting something with tons of 9th level minions), get the spell into your book and just cast it all the time. If the spell is so "uber," then utilize it for yourself.

Also, I'd be inclined to say that nightmare doesn't need line of effect, because if it did it would be completely and utterly useless. As the spell is written I've always looked at it more as a flavor spell than something ultra-powerful, and with line of effect it would be a piece of junk.

Ah, good point. So fall back on another solution:

First, do the rope trick thing. Then, scry/ask around/go to the big obvious looking black tower thing with skulls all over it and kill the lich, thus eliminating your troubles :-) (if the lich is spending so much effort on doing this to you, he must see you as some sort of threat, therefore you could probably kill him, therefore you should probably kill him).

Liches also never have to sleep.

Glad to see you're feeling better, Doc!

I don't think the spell is uber, but having used repeatedly like this would definitely put "take out the lich" at the top of my to-do list. As others have pointed out, since you know who he is, Scry him, Teleport in, kick ass. Ideally, wait for him to be in a Nightmare-casting-trance, so you can kill him quickly and easily.

If you want to be safe about it, identify his underlings first and take them out.

If you have access to a Planar Ally/Binding spell, this might be a great errand.

As a 6th soon to be 7th level caster I would just love the opportunity to do this.

Unfortunately no matter how hard I search I have yet to discover a copy of the 3rd level teleport spell. ;)

Wait -- you're sixth level?

Okay, new plan:

Quit cheesing off liches. Geez Louise!

;)

Given that, I think the trouble may be either than you're tangling with too powerful enemies, or else that your DM is siccing killer encounters on you. A lich capable of casting nightmare is what, CR 11? 12? An encounter of that level SHOULD kill you, no ifs, ands, or buts.

I don't know the storyline, but it sounds like you're in for a really tough time. My apologies for previous smartalecness on my part: I was thinking you were powerful enough to deal with the threat.

Ill stop cheesing off Liches when they start leaving nice clear notes at the door to the dungeon letting us know that they are the leader of all the smaller stuff in the dungeon.

The trip started out as a hunting expedition against Yuan-Ti. Then we wandered into another dungeon section and encountered half-fiend goblins in mass (about 100 of them) and then after that a Coven of Hags.

Since one ought to be at least 11th level to become a lich, 13 would be the minimum CR for one.

Actually, you didn't say what level you are - only that you are a 6th level caster. What level are you? And class/levels for the rest of the group, if you would.
