Item Creation Feats and Prerequisites

First Post
I have the following questions regarding item creation:

1) A minimum spell caster level is needed for the various item creation feats (for example 12th level for forge ring). Do spell caster level of different classes stack for this perpose?

2.) Let's assume, I am a multiclass bard/sorcerer and I want to create a woundrous item which demands two spells as prerequisites. Can I create this item if I can cast the first spell as a bard and the second spell as a sorcerer?

3.) Can I use spell-like abilities (like darkness if I am a drow) as prerequisites for item creation?

4.) Is it right that one cannot use scrolls or wands as substitutes for spells known or prepared as prerequisites?

1) Not sure about.

2) There is no rule against it.

3) Not sure about it, but I believe: yes.

4) No, that is not right, you may use wands and scrolls, if you don`t know the spell by yourself.
But if I recall correctly, you have to pay the charges every day of the creation process. (So a single scroll might sometimes not be enough...)

1) They don't stack. (I know it sucks)

2) Yes you can. Remeber if you don't have the spell another caster can join you in helping make an item that DOES have the spell.

3) Yes you can.

4) Yep, what Ridcully said.

So, the item creation feats are much more interesting for a bard or sorcerer than I thought they are!

Do you know any references for the answers you have given me so far?

Where does it state this?

Where does it state that it does stack? You use caster level, and a multiclass pc does not get to stack their different caster levels for anything as far as I know. Prestige Classes OTOH, sometimes do stack though, but not a bard/sorc.

This is definitely allowed: see DMG p. 178, under "Prerequisites", 1st paragraph, sentence #3-4.

Thank you, dcollins. Don't know why I haven't found it.

Ok, I know this is a stretch, but given this rule, could pure rogues (with their Use Magic Device) qualify as spellcasters and take Item Creation feats? I probably would never do this, but I was wondering if this is possible. I'm guessing not.

Think of a bard with Item Creation Feats and a lot of ranks in Use Magic Device. For this character it would make perfect sense to use his Use Magic Device Skill together with scrolls/wands to craft for example clerical magic items.
