I've reversed my stance on dragonborn and tieflings

That pitted armor look is very cool. Reminds me of cast iron. Nice work!

Also: I'm all for replacing the term "Tiefling" with "Cambion".

Just seconding what The Ubbergeek said - last time I checked the US had a pretty substantial population that is not northern/western European, or not even European at all, in heritage. No one would present Amerindian, West African, Carribean, Polish-Ukrainian, Hispanic or East Asian-derived material as "generic". Why should a certain subset of European mythology get to pass itself off as such?

Dirty little secret- population numbers aside, culturally, the US is almost entirely Anglo-Saxon and Germanic, with some exceptions, of course. But laws, traditions, culture and mythology leans heavily on English and German roots, with some pseudo-Celtic strains that have been through a British sieve. Its particularly strong in rural areas, with some pockets of population density that come from other backgrounds.

Any 'immigrant' or 'minority' cultural traditions are generally reacting against this background. (Again with some exceptions). But value judgements aside (and sort of irrelevant) most marketing is focused on this cultural backdrop. For much the same reason that media personalities train themselves to speak in the more neutral 'generically midwest' accent rather than keep strong regional ones.

Klaus, that's fantastic inkwork.
Definitely much better than most of his older, "cartoony" (not in the sense of being exaggerated, but in the sense of being too clean and flat-coloured) work. I love to see an artist improving, and I love that picture!

Correct! The less often we assume that northern and western European culture is "the default", the better. I'd rather have penanggalan in my D&D games than knockers (minds out of the gutter, Commonwealth people), any day.
