Karl has been loistening to the others talk of differing plans as to how to catch the lizard. His skills, which do not include the use of a net, are usually used to find and remove traps, but he contemplates the hows and whys of trap making.

]ooc[ IVV: what are the rules, or rather, are there rules on trap maiking rather then trap removal. ]/ooc[

Having collected her thoughts, Babette speaks up, "Well, we'll most likely find a group of them, as shocker lizards rarely travel alone. They're ambush predators, usually catching smaller animals, but ocassionally going after something larger. They subdue their prey with electrical shocks."

I do have a scroll of Resist Energy, which will help protect one person from the shocks. Does anyone feel like wrestling the lil' guy?"

OOC:
Scott, there are rules for creating traps in the Dungeon Master's Guide. Assuming you don't have that, check out The Hypertext d20 SRD (v3.5 d20 System Reference Document)
This site contains many of the "core" rules for 3.5 D&D. I also believe that it has been accepted as legal rules for Living EnWorld.

A character makes traps with a successful Craft(trapmaking) skill check.
Here's a reference on traps: Traps Index

Ah, Craft(trapmaking). i do not have any ranks in that. only +6 in disable divice. Can't help the party in that then. And thank you Jaker. ]/ooc[

]ic[ Karl grimaces at the mention of ambush tactics. " it appears that they, the lizards, may have some sort of intellegence after all as a species. And I must say that I am skilled in finding and removeing traps only. I never learned how to make them. I guess in my nievate' I assumed that only the bad guys need to make traps."

I do have a scroll of Resist Energy, which will help protect one person from the shocks. Does anyone feel like wrestling the lil' guy?"

Lerrin smiles sheepishly,

"Well I am no power house, but I would be willing to try if no one else is willing. The question for me is what do we do once the beast is in the cage? Couldn't it still shock us? I still believe our best option is to render it unconcious until we reach. In anycase let us be on our way! The sooner we depart Orussus the better." He shoots a nerovus look about them.

"Yes, let us be on our way. As has been mentioned, the sooner we are done with scrate, the better we all will be."

When everyone is ready to go, Oskar leads them to the edge of town, where everyone can see the nearby marshes.

Oskar will look in shop windows as he goes, looking for suitable bait, preferably a feeder mouse.

As you head out of town, Oskar does not note a place selling mice, but does observe that mice and rats are freely available scurrying about the city's dark corners for those who attempt to catch them.
