I fell asleep several times watching Cruise running around in MI movies. That never happened with Craig's Bond movies.

It has been really interesting to see how different the responses are! I thought my opinion was more widely held. I'd be curious to hear what people find more compelling about the Bond ones.

For my part, I think MI does a better job of using an ensemble cast, and imo that adds a lot to this type of movie.

It's surprisingly hard to say based on recent choices, which have been kind of all over the place and surprisingly modern.

I wouldn't expect Amazon to change that. Most recent was Billie Eilish. Chapelle Roan, because she can actually sing and could do the right general "sort" of song would be I guess my like, 15% chance guess, because I can't think of anyone with a higher chance right now, but things might be pretty different a year from now or whenever when the actual person is decided on.

I kind of like that its been all over. Single artists, and groups. Its one of my favorite Bond bits. Id love to see The Dinner Party get it, but they are probably not popular enough despite fitting the modern kick.

Bond was written for a particular time and context--cold war spycraft--and it doesn't really connect so many years after the fact.

For you. I loved the Craig run. And I’ve never really liked the MI films much.

He's definitely going to be able to pull of the "2 hour long luxury watch advert aimed at your dad" (or rather, I guess we are the dads now, age-wise lol) aspect of Bond movies, which has solidified since the Brosnan era.

I have to admit when I thought who "should" do the next Bond theme Kendrick Lamar absolutely immediately appeared front and center in my mind. Like he has that particular hotness. I don't know if they'd dare do a rapper but I feel like he could pull it off.

James Bond is not an ensemble cast concept. He is a spy-assassin dropped in the danger zone. He has support from time to time and gadgets. He pretty much on his own.

MI was an ensemble cast concept when it was a TV series. Under Cruise, it's a star vehicle with short scenes with his so-called team. He effectively killed the ensemble cast concept in MI-1 to make room for his (ego) running around and other physical exploits.

I'm not worried about the action scenes with Villeneuve. The Fayed fight against Paul was well executed. The tactical fight under the gigantic walking spice collector was stressful. The Arkonnen's landing assault against the Atreides on Arrakis was truly devastating - real lasers, no pew pew! There are many more examples of good action scenes in his movies. Blade Runner and Dune lend themselves well to a more contemplative approach. Bond is not that, and Villeneuve knows it.
