I loved V&V. It was my favorite of the Superhero RPG genre.

It still IS my favourite superhero RPG. :) I've played many (too many? :p) superhero rpgs over the years but none have come close to V&V as far as I'm concerned. ;)

Anyway to get copies of an old V&V rulebook?

Fantasy Games Unlimited did have a website up where you could order the books online, but website seems to be for sale (it looks like the domain name is up for grabs).

The best place to ask about getting V&V books is on the V&V Mailing List - a few people there can still get them through their gaming stores and they have offered to help out those who are looking for V&V stuff. It is a friendly little list and my home away from home when I'm not lurking here. :)

Cheers,
Tim

Cool. Some old fogies like me like Otus, but I never saw the appeal. Now Dee was where it is at, AFAIAC!

Speaking of the expert rulebook, one of my favorite pictures from therein was one with a wizard with his hands surrounded by a nimbus of fire towards the end... any chance of seeing a scan of that one (I don't see it in your D&D gallery...)

I'm not sure which pic you mean. The only "wizard with his hands surrounded by a nimbus of fire" that I can see is the Bill Willingham pic on the first page. The last Jeff Dee pic that I can recognize in the Expert book (blue book with the Erol Otus cover - just in case we're talking about different editions of the Expert rules), is the Giant Octopus in the Monsters section... or am I missing something? There are a lot more Jeff Dee pics that I plan to scan and add to the gallery... it is just a question of finding the time to do so. :)

Some of my favorite art from the old DDG were the Melnibone ones...

Alas, my DDG is a copy without the Cthulhu & Melnibonean Mythos (Mythoi?).

Cheers,
Tim

No, it's toward the end IIRC. I'll see if I can dig the book up when I get home.

coolness! :) didn't he also have additional work in the old DDG? i think a picture of the lizard man god comes to mind, for one...

I plan to get to them all eventually. He also did a few small pics for the Arthurian Heroes section, a few gods/goddesses from the Central American, Indian, Nehwon, and Nonhuman Mythos.

BTW, for the record, the Lizardman god was done by David S. LaForce, not Jeff Dee. I thought he drew the pic of Semuanya also until I checked. :)

Cheers,
Tim

Hmmm... you don't mean the little pics of a wizard casting Wizard Eye and seeing the vampire on the otherside of the door, or a wizard casting a Pass-Wall (I almost typed Pass-Wind :D) spell? If I don't have the pic you are talking about, you could always send it to me* and I'll add it to the gallery.

* my email is hartin@paratime.ca

BTW, love your avatar pic. I'm a fan of Red Dwarf from waaaay back. :)

Cheers,
Tim

Rock on. Jeff Dee was one of the greatest old D&D artists ever, along with, IMNSHO, Erol Otis, Bill Willingham and Rossloff (whose first name escapes me).

OT: Turgenev, your avatar is outstandingly cool.

[Edit: Stupid fingers.]

Wow! I feel like I've gone full circle. I discoverd his website a few months ago and now with the old scans, Im down memory lane. I'm one of those that bought the books when they came out. Jeff was my favorite artist. And have you seen the pic of him on his site? Yummm
