D&D 5E Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel a Nebula Award finalist!

Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel has been nominated for a Nebula Award finalist for game writing.

Although this category is normally about video games, last year this category included four tabletop RPGs -- Coyote & Crow, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Wanderhome, and Gramma's Hands. Evil Hat's Fate Accessiblity Toolkit made the list in 2019, and Scents and Siesmosos appeared in 2020.

Congrats to all the nominees!

Yeah, it feels a little "apples and oranges pears" to me, too. I'm guessing there's not enough of either sort of writing to justify their own separate categories, so they merge the two into broader "game writing." Perhaps the two will split in the future.
There's not enough SFWA writers interested in, or making money from, video games and/or ttrpgs to have these two types split in separate categories yet.

The only game writing nomination that we would recognize as straight up game writing in the first year this category came out (2019) was God of War.

The rest of the ballot was flooded with self published COYA games from the same gaming platform, Choice of Games (and by authors more known for their short story writing than their game design) and also Netflix's Bandersnatch, which won.

I mean, the nominations were not technically not wrong but most of them would look odd for people who focusing their game reading on D&D and video games.

The nominations have gotten better since then with more variety and a wider range of material, though this year is video game heavy.

Congratulations and well deserved! As someone who has loved D&D since the 80's - I was thrilled to see this material. It is nice to get some representation in your hobbies and the writing and ideas were top notch throughout.
