Just Got Hit By A Drunk Driver

Here in new mexico(drunk driving capitol of the world), they recently passed a law requiring that anyone convicted of drunk driving(even first timers) have an ignition interlock installed on their car, which means you have to breathe into a tube in a certain way if you want to start a car, and if it detects alcohol on your breath you can't start your car for a certain amount of time. Some people in the state government wanted to pass a law to require ignition interlocks on all cars in the state to cut down on drunk driving, but decided not to since $1000 per car is too much to ask for people, even if it could cut down on drunk driving not to mention the problems it can cause in emergency situation. In albuquerque they passed a law that allowed the cops to confiscate your car if you were arrested of drunk driving, but the courts struck it down. THe worst part is that the drunk drivers usually get minor injuries while the victims get badly injured or killed, we recently had 3 people killed in a drunk driving accident, 2 were drunks that had called a cab, and the cab driver were killed, while the drunk driver was basically uninjured and was like 2 times the legal limit.

Darn, I hated to find out about it on the forums, but I'm glad to hear you're O.K.!
I hope the in question's insurance company makes it right. In a wreck I was in about 8 years ago, the person who hit me had the same insurance company I did - made for some quick, but interesting negotiations, because your insurance company doesn't look forward to one of their good record drivers suing them.

By the time we got done and home Saturday night, it was about 1:30AM, and everyone was more or less okay (except the drunk) so I really didn't see a point in calling you. I figured you'd see it here Sunday morning, and if you didn't, then you probably weren't anywhere I could call you, anyway.....Henry said:
