Just saw brotherhood of the wolf and I loved it!

There were no subtitle issues whatsoever for me. Perhaps they were redone at some point?

Could be. And maybe I did have a bad projectionist -- I nearly went to try to find the manager, to get the projector adjusted.

I have no problem with subtitled movies, normally. But it's difficult when you can't see the entire word because the bottom is cut off, and its' worse when the subtitles are the same color as the movie's background, which happened in a couple of scenes.

But maybe the Canadian print is different from the US print. I dunno.

PS: Gez, ain't City of Lost Children just da bomb? Any fantasy buff who hasn't seen it really needs to hunt down a copy: it's beautiful and strange and lyrical and hilarious.

City of Lost Children was good indeed. I didn't much like Delicatesen though. Nice atmosphere but a dull watch. IMO anyway. :)

This will sound strange ut if you like City of Lost Children, you should rent Babe 2. I love the lil pig and the second movie was quite surreal and dark. Which is probably why it bombed in theatres seeing as it was still targetting kids. Its a dimaond in the rough to be sure. :)

Must be, 'cuz we didn't have any such problems.

As for Babe 2, surreal and dark is fine. But I don't take my four year old to see it. :P Especially following on the heels of a film that was anything but.

Babe 2. Now THERE's a movie that looks like it was made by the French.

Heh. I guess if a French director can create Brotherhood of the Wolf, an American (?) director can create Babe: Pig in the City.

I agree that it's a lovely movie. The cityscape in it is to die for.

Why some people insist on referring to FOTR as a New Zealand movie is beyond me.

Too true. American money.

That said, I have no problems with kiwis.

That's good. We're few in number, but viscious.

And if Peter Jackson is a neozealandese, is that sufficient ? Because he is. NZ director, NZ landscape, NZ actors (not all, of course, but some), NZ extras by the ton, NZ fundings (partly, maybe).

Actors? only the NPCs :)

In any case...

Spoilers ahoy. Highlight for goodness !
Does anyone remember what the Beast was? It's been a while since I saw the film, but I seem to recall it being a giant mutant hyena or something (based on what they said about it's origins, appearence).

Was I the only one who thought BotW was going to end, like, three times during the course? I kept seeming to head towards these odd, European-style endings, then it WOULDN'T END :) . Not that that's really a problem.

Loved Brotherhood of the Wolf. When I first saw it, I kept trying to pin D&D classes on the main characters. I finally settled on Barbarian/Druid (with the Improved Unarmed Combat Feat) for Mani and on Ranger for Fronsac. Heck, Frosac actually fought with two swords at one point, showing he did have the Improved Two-Hand Fighting Feat..

Regarding classes, I forget the main villain's name, but near the end of the movie he revealed himself to be a Level 9 Cheap Transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania.

Boy, you must have caught me in a mood or something, cause I am laughing my ass off at that.

Subtitles: No problem... I knew that French minor would come in handy for something eventually.

City of Lost Children: Awesome... great movie. A must-see for any gamer, especially with all the steampunk bubbling around out there now.

SEMI SPOILERS

...I think my favorite fights in the movie were the naturalists if only for the brutal, straight-to-the-point style he used gutting or impaling anyone who got in his way with as little flash, posturing, and as much expedience as possible...
Yeah...

During the scene where the naturalist was raiding the bad guy lair, he laid down SEVERAL exceedingly graphic smackdowns that prompted my buddies and I to yell:

"CONFIRMED CRITICAL!!!!"

It was that kinda fight....

Possibly, I was watching this with a buncha geeks... :D

Fortunately, we were in a living room and not a theatre...
