I believe he's talking of when Hawkgirl's ex-fiance chopped off the face/'gem'(?) of John's ring before the shield was brought down.

Green Lantern Power Rings can replicate themselves. It was probably just a matter of contacting the Guardians at Oa and asking for a replacement

I kept thinking that Green Lantern's finger/hand should have been severed, but then I remembered that this was a cartoon geared towards children, and not D&D players. It would have been cool though, and more realistic (even though it is a cartoon).

I am looking forward to the next season, as long as they don't add too many new characters.

Well, it's 60+ new characters, although Aquaman, Zatanna, Captain Atom, Supergirl, Green Arrow and Atom will get more focus than the others (and the first 7, of course).
