Keen stacking

I'd say that the haste/ weapon of speed thing is not the same. Haste and weapons of speed don't stack because they specficly say they don't.

Like bonuses do stack unless named (such at an enlargement bonus to strength and a enhancement bonus to strength)

IMO by the rules I thought they should stack. Never have allowed it though, as said above, you really don't need somebody with a 9-20 threat range.

The Sage's comment is not wonderfully thought out, "Like effects do not stack" Sure they do, as I said above.

I would argue that it is your response that wasn't wonderfully thought out, seeing as how the Strength bonus from Enlarge and Bull's Strength aren't "like effects" at all and are in fact two different types of named bonuses. I don't think it's fair for you to be intentionally obtuse in regards to this matter. I don't mean to offend you, but I don't think your argument really has any merit. Just my opinion though.

Really it depends on your definition of like effects. I consider a like effect to be something (spell/magic item) that gives you the same effect (such as the strength bonus examples).

From that view, I don't think his statment is very reasonable.

no you're right they dont have any merit.

like effects don't stack it's that simple. Keen edge is the spell used to make keen weapons... it's not that hard to figure it out.

Keen is an enhancement bonus to the critical threat range. Keen Edge is an enhancement bonus to the critical threat range. No stacking.

Haste gives an enhancement bonus to the number of actions you can make in a round. Speed weapons give an enhancement bonus to the number of attacks you can make in one round. No stacking.

The Sage ruled on that somewhere, probably in the FAQ.

But that's not what like effects are. It doesn't matter what is being given, it matters how it is given. That's why we have named bonuses. And in the case of keen weapon and keen spell, they don't stack.

Then as far as you're concerned, Haste would stack with Boots of Speed, right? If not, you need to rework your argument, unless you just consider some "like effects" aren't actually "like effects", thus they stack, even though they are identical to other "like effects" that are indeed considered "like effects" and do not, in fact, stack. If this is the case, let me know and I'll save myself the time of continuing this discussion. ;)
