So, on a tip-off from a friend I went and picked up the new Kelly Osbourne CD-single "One Word."
This is weird. I mean, weird in a good way (to me at least) but it sounds like it should have been released in 1981. "One Word" itself ends up sounding like some kind of remix or remake of Visage's anthemic New Romantic hit "Fade to Grey" at least until Kelly gets a few lines into the lyrics and you realize that the lyrics are different.
If you're inclined to see that as a coincidental resemblance, I think it's also odd that a very retro-style remake of Human League's "Sound of the Crowd" is included as a "b-side" on the single though.
Don't get me wrong--I'm the last person in the world likely to complain about an 80s New Wave sound making a mainstream comeback, but I do find it very odd. I wouldn't have expected it either.
