Knight Rider

The current Knight Rider series is a prime example of a show that ended up being greater than the sum of its parts (at least for me). There are some admittedly goofy individual bits to it, but the show as a whole has really grown on me.

It's too bad that almost half the cast will be cut soon. :( I honestly like the "team-behind-the-team" aspect of the show depicting a fully-stocked support staff helping Michael Knight out (I also liked that same aspect in last year's version of Bionic Woman). After all, in the original series, didn't the only support staff we ever saw consist of Devon Miles, the female mechanics (Bonnie Barstow in Seasons 1, 3 & 4, April Curtis in Season 2) and the semi-trailer truck K.I.T.T. rode in when not on assignment?

Also, the friendly, somewhat smitten-with-each-other dynamic between childhood friends and former fiancée's Michael and Sarah is pretty endearing, thus far refreshingly missing the expected resentment (ala Maid Marion toward Robin Hood in Season 1 of the latest Robin Hood) and cattiness (ala between the original series' Michael and Bonnie) toward each other. It also helps that Sarah is really cute, particularly in an adorable way. :)

P.S. = Paul Campbell, who plays Billy Morgan in the new series, previously played Billy Keikeya in the latest version of Battlestar Galactica.

We very, very, very, very much disagree!

I missed the TV movie, but watched the series premier with mixed feelings. Sadly when K.I.T.T. the mustang turned into K.I.T.T. the full size pick-up truck, I knew it would be the last episode I watched.

New episodes resume tomorrow (Wednesday, 12/31/08).

Oh! I would have sworn I'd read somewhere that the show got canceled. Huh, apparently not. Although with the before-mentioned possible character removals, not sure if I want to watch it again or not. Eh, will probably check it out anyway.
