Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

Big Tim surges forward to stand just behind Falen. While the thug was prepared to face both of them, he still cringes when the knight looms over him. Tim brings his blade around and Falen instinctively ducks out of the way. The large knight's blade cuts a deep wound in the thug's chest, yet the man doesn't fall. Still, one more hit will likely be enough to send this foe to the grave.

The two thugs next to Captain Camburn both step back in unison. They are still feeling the effects of Akos demoralization, but it won't last much longer. The one hurt badly by the captain takes out a potion and drinks it down. The other loads and takes aim at the Elite captain, but his hands are still shaking, and when he fires the bolt, it hits the cobblestones.

The enchanter finally is able to move again. She puts some distance between her and the Loremaster and a wall between her and Falen & Big Tim. She turns and begins to cast again. She says nothing, but her eyes glow with a warm, friendly fire. She focuses her compulsion on the captain, Akos, the halfling Elite, and Emelia. She is unable to bypass Akos' magical resistances and both the captain and Emelia shake off the magic.

Zenpher succumbs. He stops to regard her, completely enraptured. He cannot look away. He stands still. The thug who was going to attack the halfling turns his attention to Emelia instead. He has a wicked grin on his face.

Down the street, Petronille fires at the doppelganger with her light crossbow. She doesn't even come close. She shift her focus to someone who might be easier to hit.

As Ákos feels the tight grip of his opponent, his eyes narrow with a powerful gaze, his voice ringing out with a commanding tone, "Unhand me, you pitiful cretin!" His words carry an undeniable authority, his imperious bearing even in the face of this many opponents intimidating as much as his fey aura.

He wriggles and fights the stronger opponent, trying to get free. And vowing never again to spend both his anklets charges quickly. And to buy new ones.

The wrestler blanches and flinches away for the merest of moments, but the loremaster was counting on such a reaction and he takes off behind the safety of his group's warriors, his dignity taking a hit after hit in this fight.

Standard:
Opposed grapple check: 1D20+6 = [11]+6 = 17

Intimidate the grappler: 1D20+23 = [8]+23 = 31 - the opponent demoralized = opponent cowed = he drops everything he's holding (including Akos :D )

Move: go behind Zenpher, next to Vinny, taking whatever opportunity attacks are coming his way, prefering to avoid those with cold iron weapons even if that means he will take one more attack

OOC: Long morning :) sorry for the late post, luckily we're on different sides of the pond :)
I was thinking of going behind Tim, but I lose sight of the most of the fight that way - including the caster and the doppelganger - so risking more

@Knightfall I changed the post

The Loyalist hesitates for just a second. He is uncertain if some sort of magical attack is spilling from the Loremaster's mouth. In that split second, Akos mages to wriggle from the man. He slips out of the man's grasp partly due to the blood from Akos' and the soldier's wounds. It makes the Loremaster slippery and he is a bit shocked to find himself free.

The Loyalist is dumbfounded.

"What are you doing?" The enchanter yells. She looks worried. "Don't let him go!"

"I didn't let him go," the man replies. "He broke free."

Akos rushes away from the melee.

"Don't let him escape, or it will be all of our heads!" The enchanter yells again.

Four of the Loyalists slash or stab out of him with their blades as he retreats away from the mass of foes. All of them hits the Loremaster, and he is only saved by his fey heritage. As Akos rushes past the open doorway that leads into the candle shop, he can see Vinccenzo by the door. The Sectarian is wounded and looks terrible. One of the Loyalists lies on the floor underneath the swiftblade's feet.

By the time he is standing behind Zenpher, his wounds have gone from bad to critical. If he hadn't gotten free, they would have overwhelmed him eventually. Akos' heart is racing and he is breathing heavily. Every part of him hurts. Phelix has it out for him. for all of the Exemplars. He glances back inside the shop. Another one of Phelix's soldiers is standing right next to Vinny. Beyond the man is Tuck and another one of the guild's thugs.

The Loyalist soldier hasn't noticed the Loremaster yet. He is focused more on Tuck and Vinny.

Down the street, the enchanter is livid. "No! Get on him again! Bring him down!"

OOC: Dice rolls on the OOC thread. Akos takes a total of 15 points of damage.

Outside the Shop:
The mercenary standing in front of the doorway to the warehouse steps northeast while keeping his focus on Captain Camburn. He swigns his longsword twice but the captain easily dodges the attacks.

The thug in front of Falen takes a step away from the half-hobgoblin and Big Tim. He takes a potion from his belt and drinks it down quickly. The wound the big knight inflicted on him closes.

"Do not let them through!" the man inside the doorway to the warehouse orders. "Keep the knight at bay. Do not falter! Do not fail!"

Down the street, the halberd-wielding Regular shifts his grip and swings the weapon at the doppelganger again, but the shapechanger easily dodges the strike.

Custodio steps back from the fight and prays to the purifier. He turns at glares at the mercenary closest to him and Akos. A spiritual force weapon in the shape of a longsword appears next to the woman and slams into her before she can react. The Vanquisher cleric then turns his attention back to the doppelganger.

The shapechanger shifts its focus to the commander. It steps towards the old soldier and drives his short blade into Oakfirst's shoulder. The old warrior bares the wound easily and manages to evade the doppelgangers next strike.

"Blast! These damn things are everywhere!"

"More than you will ever know," the doppelganger hisses.

Inside the Shop:
The thug facing off against Tuck tries to stab the kobold with his short sword, but the canny urban ranger manages to avoid the blade, barely.

End of Round 8

Start of Round 9
Outside the Shop:

The Loyalist in the strange helm, that is shaped like an intricate mask, moves up towards Falen. Once close enough, he swings his longsword with gull force and manages to hit the unseen seer. The man keeps his shield up and a wary eye on Big Tim.

Meanwhile, the Loyalist who had been grappling with Akos takes a step back along the narrow street, away from Captain Camburn. He takes a potion from his belt and drinks it down. Falen can see the man's 'shield' is an arm buckler that is attached to the forearm. He can see that the man's spiked gauntlets are made from cold iron.

Inside the Shop:
The Loyalist tries in vain to hit Tuck while keeping his guard up against Vinccenzo. Tuck easliy manages to duck the man's sword strike.

Falen:

Falen’s eyes narrow as he winces from the blade’s cut. “Yet more scars.

In an almost playful fashion, Falen wags his finger at the masked fellow whose sword last connected. He moves 5’ toward the Brelish thug as if he is going to attack him, but instead of doing so he clicks his left heel, whispers “Ta-Da” in Draconic, and disappears, the only evidence of him having been there an ever so delicate ‘bamf’ sound as the air rushes in to fill where he was standing.

He reappears 35’ due northwest behind the NE corner of the warehouse, he crouched, hoping the reappearing ‘bamf’ is such that neither the enchantress nor the thugs are alerted to him. With all the sounds of battle and their prattling about, perhaps Tyche, the god of luck will continue to be on his side.

Or perhaps they’ll just be too battle deaf to notice him. Until it’s too late.

The Loyalists near Falen on the street try to react to Falen's movement, but he is gone in a second. There is only smoke left behind. The thug looks around trying to find out where the half-hobgoblin has disappeared too.

After Falen appears besides the warehouse, the enchanter and other Loyalists don't react to his appearance. He smiles to himself perfect.

Inside the Shop:
Tuck continues to fight against the two Loyalists. He swings his blade at the soldier, but the man blocks it with his shield. His second attack finds it mark against the thug. The soldier blocks Tuck's third strike as well.

Outside the Shop:
The male mercenary by the door of the warehouse steps into the centre of the street and then turns and swings his longsword at Captain Camburn. The blade finds it mark, but when he tries to bring the blade around in a flourish, the weapon slips from his hand and ends up behind him next to the tree in front of the candle shop.

"Ha! That's the best you can do!" Captain Camburn laughs at the mercenary.

The female mercenary steps in between the two Elites and tries to grab ahold of Akos. Her attempt is a bit clumsy and Akos gets a chance to slash out with his dagger.

Up on the wall, the Bluffside Regular continues to fight in vain against a superior opponent. He fails to hit the traitor again, but Rhumyr has no such problem. The traitor inflicts a deep wound against the guard.

"I need help up here!" He calls out.

Commander Oakfirst looks to the wall. "Blast it!" He looks at Petronille. "Forget the doppelganger. Go help that man."

The Elite nods.

Inside the Shop:
Vinccenzo waits for his opportunity, and when the soldier blocks tuck second attack, he stabs out with Lil' Vinny. The man shifts his stance and Vinny' barely scratches the foe on the soldier. The loyalist blocks Vinny's second rapier strike with his shield.

But, the Sectarian can tell, the man is nearly done for. "Tuck! We need to finish these bastards off and get outside to help the others!"

Tuck nods but keeps his focus on the two enemies threatening him.

Commander Oakfirst calmly steps back from the doppelganger, reaches out with one hand and drops his bow on the table beside him, and then draws both his longsword and handaxe. He stands ready to fight with both weapons. "Custodio! Help the Loremaster. The doppelganger is mine!"

The Vanquisher cleric nods... with a smile.

Down the street, the thug standing over the dying Loyalist takes a potion from his belt and bends over to feed it to his comrade. The man's eyes soon open. "Get up and fight," the thug says as he steps towards Emelia to block her from being able to move and attack the man without going through the thug first.

Burchard moves to help his commander while Emelia attacks and hits the mercenary trying to grapple Akos. "Get off him!"

In the warehouse, the man infamously known as "Medved" throughout Old City begins to pray. His view less obstructed than before, Big Tim finally recognizes the man. It is the mercenary who escaped after the ambush on the street when the mercs tried to take Mani from the Exemplars! He is now one of the most wanted members of the Rising Swords.

The Rising Sword cleric finishes his prayer and a wave of courage flows through the Loyalists and Rising Sword mercenaries. They raise their weapons and cheer. The Loyalists begin chanting again.

"To the death! To the death!"

Captain Camburn finds himself surrounded by more than half a dozen foes, but he relishes such a fight. He swings his greatsword with ease at the mercenaries. His first strike hits the merc to his right and his second hits the other foe standing in front of him, even though he almost loses his grip. Then, with his third strike, he overreaches and nearly loses his blade, but he manages to fix his stance and deliver a powerful blow to the merc to his right.

"Sir Valencia! Let us deal with these fools! Ha! Ha!"

The old warrior's shout out to Big Tim is hard to hear over the clashing of blades.
