Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

"Soldier, step back!" Custodio orders the Regular. The Vanquisher cleric prepares to heal the guard. "I will heal you."

Petronille sheathes her blade and unshoulders her crossbow.

That doesn't mean he cannot do anything, not everything Titania grants to him are spells. And he can invoke her without risking additional attacks. Blast of warm summer air flows from him carrying the vitality of late summer day into the wounded soldier
"Stand fast, soldier, you're on the right side of history! "

"Casters! Fireball or otherwise bomb everything around me! Now!"

He hopes his own resistance will keep him alive while burning the enemies cowering around him and fighting him.
Custodio watches in amazement as Akos, somehow, manages to free one hand enough to blast healing energy towards the Regular. It hits the man and closes the worst of the warrior's wounds. The magical healing chains to Petronille and heals he as well. Custodio smiles, but he knows the Loremaster needs help.

The doppleganger howls in anger.

After Akos heals the two guards, the worst of the fear he inflicted with his demoralizing speech subsides. While the Loyalists are able to move again, they remain shaken.

Then, one of the mercenaries who had retreated into the warehouse comes back out carrying a heavy shield. He stops in front the of the open door and attacks Captain Camburn from behind. The hasted captain reacts to quickly and blocks the attack with his shield.

A moment later, the thug, who had also retreated into the warehouse, reengages in the fight. He moves past the mercenary and Captain Camburn recklessly and the captain is able to get a hit in with his greatsword. It is a deep wound, but the thug keeps going. He moves up the side street past the enchanter towards Falen. He stops 10 feet from the half-hobgoblin.

Down the street, the Regular steps back and attacks again with his halberd while Custodio casts a healing spell to close the last of the guard's wounds. Then, the Vanquisher cleric uses his enhanced speed to deftly move around the doppelganger and get into a flanking position.

The doppelganger strikes out at Custodio and manages to hit the d'Elite with the second thrust of its short sword.

End of Round 7

Inside the Shop (round 7):
The Brelish Thug behind the counter draws his short sword and moves to strike out at Tuck, but the canny kobold avoids the man's blade. Tuck now faces two foes that are flanking him.

Start of Round 8
Outside the Shop:

The Loyalist standing next to Captain Camburn steps away from the Elite and attacks Akos in the grapple. The man drives his blade into Akos' gut, but the Loremaster's fey heritage protects him completely. The Loyalist grappling him tries to slam his cold iron gauntlet into Akos' head but he misjudges his positioning.

Inside the Shop:
The Loyalist tries to skewer Tuck from behind, but the urban ranger avoids the blade strike.

Falen:
Moving NW 5’ to place himself due east of the threatening Brelish thug, Falen attempts a swipe at him. It’s clumsy relative to his previous strikes, and he is not entirely sure whether the strike hits or misses. His focus is distracted upon realizing he has to engage the thug in order to get to Akos is to put the thug between him and the sorceress as well as hearing Tymbeck. He does manage to end the grease spell per Tym’s request. He settles in for a fight with the thug.

Tuck starts laughing as he defends himself from both a thug and a loyalist.

"Bullies, that's what you are. Always picking on the small. Well today, the small will put you in your place!"

The kobold moves his sword this way and that, taking full advantage of the haste spell, and stabs at both opponents in turn.

The thug manages to dodge Falen's strike, but it was still close. The half-hobgoblin can see that Captain Camburn dealt the roguish foe a significant injury, yet the man's eyes remain fanatical... focused.

The grease under Tim's feet disappears.

Tucks first stab with his blade gets past the Loyalist's defenses, but his second and third strikes fail to hit their mark. The thug dodges him and the Loyalist blocks the third strike with his shield.

Falen: (out of order supplemental post, for narrative purposes).

As Falen’s strike missed the thug, he catches the thug’s gaze. In an instant he processes the battlefield again. The deathwish and associated chanting among what otherwise is rank and file enemies disturbs him. The warehouse is an oddly convenient forward position. And he himself knows focus, but this appears perhaps…different. He shouts to any allies within hearing distance, particularly toward Akos & Tym.

Some of these are charmed, controlled, or geased. Too focused on dying. Focus on the casters. And set fire to that warehouse !

He thinks to himself. There is a cleric or more casters around here. Something doesn’t add up. He is more disgusted. “Killing these poor fops is a waste. Better the carrion behind it.

Just after Falen shouts out to his allies, two more mercenaries rush out of the warehouse. Captain Camburn manages to swing his blade and hit one of them, but the other mercenary slips by into the fray unscathed. Both of them, a man and woman, are armed with longswords and cold iron daggers.

The man sets himself up next to Akos grappling the Loyalist and strikes out with his combined attack. He hits the Lore with both weapons. The steel longsword makes a cut on Akos' cheek while the mercenary drives the cold iron dagger into Akos' shoulder. The weapon's burn the Loremaster.

The woman moves to confront the halfling Elite. Just as she reaches him, he swings his hasted longsword at her three times. The first strike leaves a dent in her armor while the next one she blocks. His third strike is awkward, and the mercenary traps his blade in between her weapons and pushes back. He almost falls over. His blade slips from his hand and skids away across the street.

"I've got you now!" she sneers at the Elite.

Inside the Shop:
Vinny moves his hands over Lil' Vinny and then touches the rapier to imbue it with the ability to hit his enemies better. He steps towards the Loyalist close to the open door so that the man can't escape through it. The Sectarian had been so focused on drinking his potion and casting his spell that he hadn't noticed that the thug had moved from behind the counter towards Tuck.

Vinny sees the threat behind his compatriot and calls out a warning. "Tuck! Behind you!"

Outside the Shop:
Up on the wall, the Regular drops his crossbow, steps back from Rhumyr, and draws his short sword. The traitorous guard steps up from the stairs and attacks but the Regular manages to avoid the strike.

Down on the street, things are quickly getting out of hand for Akos. He is being surrounded on all sides. Commander Oakfirst can see that the Loyalists and mercenaries are trying to take the Loremaster out.

"Emelia! Don't worry about finding Sir Tim," he orders. "Go help the Loremaster!" He points towards Akos. "The city cannot afford to lose him!"

He then turns his focus to the doppelganger. He fires three arrows, but the doppelganger avoids all of them. "Blast it!"

Then, the situation goes from bad to worse. Two more thugs spill out of the warehouse's open door. One of them moves help surround the Loremaster and then attacks Akos with his steel short sword. Akos manages to shift out of the way, just barely. The other thug moves to stand over the fallen Loyalist Soldier; he stands over the man protectively.

The Elite named Burchard finishes loading his heavy crossbow and fires at the doppelganger, but the bolt goes wide. It's no use. He drops the crossbow and draws his blade.

Emelia drops her own crossbow and moves to confront the mercenaries and Loyalists gathered around Zenpher. She will have to fight her wy through to help save Akos.

Akos looks around himself and knows that they are focusing on him before anyone else. He must escape!

He hears someone yell, "Hold him fast!"

The Loremaster can barely see the feet of someone standing in the open doorway of the warehouse. It is a struggle to see the man's features as the Loyalist continues to hold on to the Loremaster.

OOC: @Neurotic, DC 11 Spot check to clearly see the man in the doorway. Akos is considered to be distracted, so the check is at -5.

@Aust Thale and @Tellerian Hawke, both of you can also make Spot checks to see the man in the warehouse's open doorway. The DC is 15 for Falen, and he is also distracted. The DC is 18 for Tim, and he is also distracted.

Captain Camburn shifts his stance and carefully brings his greatsword around to slash at the Loyalist grappling the Loremaster. The blade slices into the man twice and Captain Camburn yells, "Release him and I'll make your death swift!"

He then brings his blade around at the thug he hit moments before, but man has his senses back and barely ducks in time to keep from being decapitated. The captain continues his circle and tries bring his blade around and take the grapplers legs out from under the man, but the Loyalist manages to deflect the strike with his armoured cold iron gauntlet.

"Just don't stand there," the grappler yells at the other Loyalists. "Kill that old fool! Keep him off me!"
