Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

"He may have been specially prepared for us. Cold iron weapons, calm disinterest, heavy armor..." muses Akos as he lets fly a magical book trailing the lush leaves of the forest into the man. The hit immediately springs off toward the dwarf and then disappears.
"...for me specifically. I'll leave that to you two and go and see if the guards need help. I can dispel some magic on my way."
The energy hits a magical barrier protecting The Butcher. The energy dissipates up into the air around the Loyalist instead of arcing to hit the dwarf.

Akos is surprised but tries not to let the result shake his confidence.

Neurotic said:
The loremaster may sound craven to the uninitiated, but he knows what he's doing, his strength and his weakness. Rushing by Tim, he positions himself so that if the dwarf wants to attack him, he will have to risk being sandwiched between the loremaster and the knight.

He smiles at the dwarf. "Good that you thought your mooks could hold the guards, but we're switching the roles, the butcher is sloooowwww almost as much as you're dead."
The dwarf keeps his focus on Big Tim. Akos isn't even sure in the raging dwarf heard him. He can tell the dwarf is on his last legs, however. The mercenary might have one more burst of energy in him, but after that, he'll likely fall. As long as no one heals him. These foes attacked without a spellcaster to support them.

Akos looks back at the Butcher... unless. Hopefully he is not a cleric.

OOC: On Akos' previous attack vs. Butcher, I forgot about his spell resistance but Akos missed that time, so it didn't really matter.
Akos - Beat Butcher's Spell Resistance: 1D20+6 = [2]+6 = 8 (failed)

Since spell resistance negates the damage, I'm assuming the eldritch chain doesn't arc to the dwarf.

Outside the Shop:
The mercenaries begin scurring away like the rats they are while the Loyalists stand and fight to death. The dwarf mercenary is too engulfed in his own rage to withdraw, but the other two mercs disappear through the open door leading into the warehouse.

"Press the advantage!" Captain Camburn orders. The old warrior is enjoying himself a bit too much.

Down the street, the Regular tries to skewer the doppelganger again, but the shapechanger is too quick. It steps towards Petronille and stabs out with its blade once, twice. The first stab cuts another wound, but Petronille manages to block the next attack with her shield.

Inside the Shop:
The thug aims his hand crossbow at Tuck, but then quickly shifts it towards Vinccenzo and fires. The bolt finds its mark. Vinny immediately feels the poison enter his bloodstream as the bolt lodges in his shoulder. The poison burns and he feels his life force beginning to be sapped away. He feels weak and sick.

"Not good," he says.

End of Round 5

Round 6 Begins
Inside the Shop:

The Loyalists counter against Tuck and Vinny. The two soldiers strike out in unison. The man facing Tuck manages too slice a deep wound in the kobold ranger's chest while the other's strike against Vinny is more awkward. He bangs his blade against the window and shatters some of the glass.

Outside the Shop:
The butcher tries to step back out of the grease, but his footing fails him. He nearly falls over and is only able to stay upright due to his incredible reflexes.

"Damn adventurers!" He growls. He throws caution to the wind and his cold iron dagger at Falen. The blade nicks Falen's arm before landing on the cobblestones behind him.

Tim turns and brings his blade around. His blade thumps into the man's shoulder and cracks a section of the wall.

On the other street, another Loyalist appears out of the warehouse and moves to attack Zenpher. The man's longsword is blocked by the halfling Elite's shield.

OOC: @Aust Thale, you're up for Falen. T.H. gets an AoO since Butcher used a ranged attack while being threatened.

Tim laughs at the Dwarf mockingly.
Tim says, "Hide it? Ha. I revel in it, you foolish cur! My father was a cretin, a criminal, a slaver, and all-around despicable fiend. My mother submitted to his attentions to avoid being murdered, or sold; and she taught me the rule of truth, and the importance of honor. My mother was my world, she gave me my sense of purpose! My father's strength and willpower flow through me, and imparting those things to me is the only useful thing he ever did for me. Now, I wield that strength of limb for the cause of Good, and for the will of the righteous Syvatagor! Your petty attempt to distract me with your amateurish banalities is only further proof of your WEAKNESS!"
The dwarf mercenary listens to Tim's word with a smile. "You misunderstand," he grins. "It is an honour to fight you. If I die by your blade, it will grant me an honoured place in the afterlife. I hope that when your end comes, you will..."

The dwarf is so focused on Tim, he ignores Akos and Falen completely.

Falen winks at the Butcher as he rushes by Tymbeck to stop just short of the dwarf’s reach. He quickly casts a spell which unleahes three magical bolts of force towards the dwarf.

The dwarf's head snaps towards Falen but he can't avoid the force missiles. "No! Do not rob me of my glorious death!"

The bolts slam one after another into the dwarf mercenary. The force energy saps the last of the mercenary's strength. His legs fail him and he falls to his knees.

"You... little... bas..." He falls over dead.

"Hold on," Tuck encourages Vinny as they both are hit by the Loyalists in the shop.

Without flourish, the kobold swings his sword at the legs of the attacker furthest away from him, cutting deliberate gashes that wear the man down. The magical speed of the haste spell means that before blood even has a chance to pour out, the urban ranger has already landed his next hit.

OOC: Full attack on the Regular that attacked Vinny. If he goes down in the meantime, switch to the other target.

Hasted full attack: 1D20+9 = [8]+9 = 17
for 1D4 = [3] = 3 damage
1D20+9 = [13]+9 = 22
for 1D4 = [1] = 1 damage
1D20+4 = [18]+4 = 22
for 1D4 = [3] = 3 damage

Forgot sneak attack damage!
1D6 = [2] = 2
1D6 = [3] = 3
1D6 = [3] = 3

The Loyalist soldier tries in vain to block Tuck's sword strikes with his shield by the kobold is too fast for him. The man's legs nearly buckle. He looks like it will only take one more hit for the man to fall. He is unsteady but his fanatical eyes refuse to show fear.

OOC: It looks like your adding haste but not flanking. Plus, you get your favoured enemy damage bonus against any of the opponents in the room. That's a total of 21 points of damage.

Outside the Shop:
The halfling Elite tries to use the magical haste to his advantage. He swings his sword three times but the new foe is able to block the first two sword strikes with his shield. Zenpher's third strike gets through but the blade only cuts a small gash on the man's shield arm.

Up on the wall, the Regular on the gate moves to the top of the stairs leading down onto the wall. He loads and fires his crossbow at the traitor, but Rhumyr manages to avoid the bolt by flattening himself against the rampart. Instead of advancing on his foe, he pulls a potion out of a belt pouch and downs the liquid.

Inside the Shop:
Vinny follows up Tuck's hasted attacks with two of his own with Lil' Vinny. The Loyalist blocks the first rapier thrust, but he is too weak to block the Sectarian's second stab. The blade barely penetrates the man's defenses and only makes a pinprick wound on the man's chest. Yet, his eyes roll back and he crumples to the floor.

Vinny can tell the man is only unconscious, not dead.

Oakfirst Arrives!
Custodio hears the horn blast before he sees them come through the gate. fight through the gate, actually. Half a dozen Elites move to attack the other traitors fighting to try to control the gate. The battle spills out onto the street as traitorous Regulars and Elites fight against the personal Elite force of Lord Commander Reginald Oakfirst.

Commander Oakfirst and two of his Elites break through and head towards Custodio and other guards fighting against the Loyalists and the Rising Swords mercenaries. Oakfirst has his bow in hand while the two Elites have heavy crossbows. They stop behind Petronille and take aim at the doppelganger. All three fire in unison but only one of the Elites manages to get a glancing shot.

The guards give a rousing cheer for their commander.

"Now your in trouble," Custodio sneers at the doppelganger.

The doppelganger hisses at him. The Vanquisher cleric can't tell if the thing is worried or not.

"Custodio, where are the Exemplars?" Oakfirst shouts.

"Tuck, Vinccenzo, and Akos are in the shop," Custodio replies. "Tim is fighting over on the other side of the shop. Falen is around here somewhere."

"How many of these bastards?"

I don't know. More than a dozen, maybe? They ambushed on the street from there," Custodio motions to the warehouse. "There are others inside the shop."

"Then let's cut the head off of these snakes," Oakfirst replies. "Burchard, help Mr. Vecchi kill that thing. Emelia, go back up Sir Valencia. I've got the warehouse."

"Yes sir!" The two Elites reply in unison.
