Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

Falen:
Careful to cover Akos & the shopkeeper’s retreat, Falen steps forward 5’ and, pulling a bit of butter from his spell pouch and whispering in Draconic, pushes a viscous goop from arcane energy around his hands on to the ground toward an area immediately to his south, placing the “Butcher” in the southwestern most corner.
He speaks to Big Tym, staying just out of reach of any backswing, but placing himself squarely that the Butcher won’t get a free shot on Tym without Falen being able to take a swipe him. “Focus on the dwarf. Make him dead quickly.” Falen brandishes the dagger of venom, eyeing the Butcher carefully. As he steps forward, he changes his visage as well to that of the Dusk Assassin dead on the ground. “ Let’s add more chaos to all this.

Make him dead quickly.” Falen brandishes the dagger of venom, eyeing the Butcher carefully. As he steps forward, he changes his visage as well to that of the Dusk Assassin dead on the ground. “ Let’s add more chaos to all this.
After Falen's grease spell covers the ground around Butcher's feet, the man glances down at the slippery liquid that suddenly appears. He easily stays up on his feet. He looks back at Falen and shakes his head. "Adventurers," he says calmly. "Your lot are so inconvenient."

The dwarf tires to surprise Tim by tumbling away down the street. The surprisingly nimble dwarf rolls away but it isn't fast enough and Tim is able to bring his sword around to try to hit the dwarf.

"Not so fast, ye cowardly braggart. Stay and taste JUSTICE. Indeed, eat your fill."

The raging dwarf barely notices the sword cutting into him, and when he comes up out of Tim's reach, he is holding up a potion bottle in his other hand. The dwarf laughs manically and cracks the potion open on his helmet and the sucks out the healing liquid. Then the dwarf growls and puts the whole potion bottle in his mouth and begins chewing on it. He spits out bits of blood covered ceramic pieces and, finally, the bottles cork. He smiles a bloody grin at Tim, deftly draws a katar from his belt, and bellows a challenge at Tim. "COME ON!"

OOC:
Butcher - Reflex save vs Falen's Grease spell: 1D20+12 = [11]+12 = 23 (saved)

Dwarf tumbles (fails) while taking a potion from his belt (move action), drinks it (standard action), and then draws a secondary weapon (free action).

”That’s the Butcher!” Tuck yells, hoping his allies hear him outside.

”Huge bounty on his head!”

The kobold would explain the details if he wasn’t fighting off people trying to kill him. He hopes the word ‘bounty’ is enough to warn people that the Butcher is dangerous while also focusing the attention of the guards and opportunists.

Tuck feints with his sword, pretending to attack the Loyalist in front of him, then unexpectedly taking a stab at the other, who’s fighting Vinny and running out of breath.

Falen thinks he hears someone shout for a moment, but he can't hear what's being said. Akos is so focused on the Butcher's weapons that he doesn't hear Tuck's warning. Big Tim can only hear his own armour and the shouted challenge of the dwarf.

Down the street, Custodio can hear Tuck shouting, but can't make out what he is saying. The sound of combat drowns out the kobold urban ranger's voice.

'I hope he's okay in there,' Custodio thinks.

OOC: Passive listen checks for Akos, Big Tim, Falen, and Custodio on OOC thread.

At the last moment, the Loyalist senses Tuck's attacks. He manages to evade Tuck's first stab and turns and blocks the second attack as well.

OOC: Yes, on a hit, Tuck will get sneak attack damage added against that Loyalist.

Outside the Shop:
Renewed by his healing potion, Zenpher rushes back into the fight. He moves past Captain Camburn on the man's right and steps out to attack the Rising Swords mercenary who just used his own healing potion. The man doesn't see the attack coming before it is too late. The halfling Elite swings his sword like a fighter making an uppercut and slices a wound in the mercenary's side. The mercenary grimaces in discomfort.

Moments later, Zenpher feels the magical energy flow into him from Vinccenzo's spell. He glances over his shoulder and looks towards the half-open window. He knows the Sectarian is there on the other side, but the reflection from the sun make it impossible for Zenpher to see Vinny.

"Ha! Ha!" Captain Camburn shouts. "Now they're done for! Well done Sectarian!"

Inside the Shop:
Vinccenzo carefully begins to cast haste on the defensive. If he can pull it off, he will greatly improved his and Tuck's chances. He can clearly see a halfling Elite guard attack and hit one of the mercenaries, so he targets him for the spell as well. He can also see Captain Camburn in street and Custodio is just barely visible behind the Elite captain.

"No!" The Loyalist shouts, but he can't do anything to stop Vinny. The Sectarian is careful as he pulls a sliver of licorice root from his spell component pouch and speaks the arcane words that will boost his and his allies ability to move and attack. The spell goes off without a hitch, and the haste envelops him, Tuck, and the other three visible outside the window.

Vinny sees Zenpher look towards him and hears the captain shout out to him, although it is touch to hear what the man says. But, regardless, it worked.

"You should surrender now," Vinny encourages the Loyalist.

"You should know by now that we don't surrender," replies while spitting on the floor. "To the death, Sectarian. For the glory of our master."

"To the death!" The other two Loyalists shout.

While fights rage on the street and in the candle shop, the Regular and the traitor named Rhumyr continue to exchange sword strikes. The other Regular tries to help Petronille by firing at the doppelganger, but he misses.

"Blast!"

The other guard strikes out at Rhumyr but the traitor evades the blow. He then drives his short sword into the guard's gut. The Regular stumbles, then falls.

"No!" The other guard yells. He begins to reload his crossbow.

On the street below, Captain Camburn uses the magic provided by Vinny to good use. Instead of pressing forward to attack the hooded mercenary, he deftly shifts his stance and strikes out four times at the woman who has been battling with Custodio. The first strike cuts a deep wound in her chest. she tries to block his other sword swings with her shield, but he overwhelms her with his speed and agility.

The woman crumples to the ground dead.

"I will give you one last chance to surrender," he announces coldly. "Take it or perish."

The two Loyalists yell, "Loyalists do not surrender! To! The! Death!"

"Crazy fanatics," Custodio says.

He uses his opening to go to Petronille's aid. He rushes past the glaive-wielding Regular and attacks the doppelganger, but the canny shapeshifter dodges the warhammer strike. "Petronille, get back! Get out of here!"

On the other street, Tim takes a step towards the dwarf and unleashes righteous fury. The rager was trying to goad him into charging, but Tim is a seasoned fighter who knows when he has the advantage. He swings his sword in a wide arc and brings it down onto the dwarf's shoulder. he cuts a deep wound. The dwarf mercenary tries to adjust his stance, but Tim backhands his foes with Rizvan. The blow sends the dwarf's head snapping back. Yet, he is able to block Tim's second sword strike with his axe and katar together.

Tim knows the dwarf has almost no strength left. The dwarf's arms are straining to hold back Tim's weapon. Blood is seeping into his clothing and staining the cobblestone street.

Yet, the dwarf has a huge bloody grin on his face. "You are indeed a worthy opponent, ogre-kin," he says. "Yes, I can smell your bloodline. You cannot hide it from me."

Tim laughs at the Dwarf mockingly.
Tim says, "Hide it? Ha. I revel in it, you foolish cur! My father was a cretin, a criminal, a slaver, and all-around despicable fiend. My mother submitted to his attentions to avoid being murdered, or sold; and she taught me the rule of truth, and the importance of honor. My mother was my world, she gave me my sense of purpose! My father's strength and willpower flow through me, and imparting those things to me is the only useful thing he ever did for me. Now, I wield that strength of limb for the cause of Good, and for the will of the righteous Syvatagor! Your petty attempt to distract me with your amateurish banalities is only further proof of your WEAKNESS!"

The two Brelish Thugs each take a step back, reload their crossbows, and fire at the Regular wielding the glaive. The bolts fly true and impact the ma in the back.

"Cowards!" Captain Camburn yells.

Down the street, Petronille takes a single step back, pulls her potion from her belt, and drinks it down. It helps, but only a little. She is loathe to flee, but she might not have any choice.

The dwarven assassin half walks, half skips away. It is an odd sight for a dwarven woman who is decked out in assassin's gear and dark garish clothing. She soon disappears out of sight around the other side of the shop. She's likely headed towards the guards.

"He may have been specially prepared for us. Cold iron weapons, calm disinterest, heavy armor..." muses Akos as he lets fly a magical book trailing the lush leaves of the forest into the man. The hit immediately springs off toward the dwarf and then disappears.
"...for me specifically. I'll leave that to you two and go and see if the guards need help. I can dispel some magic on my way."

The loremaster may sound craven to the uninitiated, but he knows what he's doing, his strength and his weakness. Rushing by Tim, he positions himself so that if the dwarf wants to attack him, he will have to risk being sandwiched between the loremaster and the knight.

He smiles at the dwarf. "Good that you thought your mooks could hold the guards, but we're switching the roles, the butcher is sloooowwww almost as much as you're dead."

Swift: activate gloves of eldritch admixture Acid damage from eldritch admixture: 2D6 = [6, 1] = 7
Standard: Eldritch chain vs butcher; damage; chain attack vs dwarf: 1D20+7+4 = [8]+7+4 = 19
3D6+4 = [3, 4, 5]+4 = 16
1D20+7+4 = [4]+7+4 = 15
- touch attacks, so the other one may even hit, butcher 16 damage + 7 acid, dwarf 8 damage +3 acid

Move: S, S, S, S, SW
Free: smile at the dwarf
