Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

The Rising Swords counterattack. The female mercenary charges Captain Camburn and brings her sword down viciously. The old warrior barely blocks the strike.

The man next Zenpher counters against the halfling Elite. His first swing leaves him off balance and he drops his blade with his second swing. The other male Rising Sword moves into the fray boldly and tries to take off Custodio's head. He nearly fumbles his own blade when he is forced to step over his fellow mercenary's dropped weapon.

Zenpher stabs out at the man as he rushes by and scores a deep cut on the man's thigh.

Then, the fight becomes more complicated. Two men dressed in Loyalist colours burst out of the old house. One of them moves up the narrow street towards both Big Tim and Falen. He moves next to the dwarf and glares at Falen in his disguise as young Mr. Aceron.

"Leave the knight to me," the dwarf insists and the rogue nods.

The other thuggish rogue moves towards the fray, stops and aims with a hand crossbow, and fires a bolt at the Regulars. The bolt is nearly a head shot, but it dings off the guard's helmet... denting it.

The guard moves towards the battle quickly while the other guard takes only a single step. At the last moment, Petronille senses that something is wrong. She glances back to see that the Regular is swinging his halberd around at her. She manages to spin and prepare for the blow, but she can't avoid it completely. The weapon slices into her shoulder.

The guard's visage changes and the creature in front of her is a strange mixture of doppelganger and Regular. It's laughter is as hollow as its facial features.

"Doppelganger!" She yells.

The doppelguard makes a strange hissing sound like metal being scraped on metal. It drops the halberd and quickly draws its short sword in a flash.

The other Regular turns to look back in horror. "It... it cannot be... Aniyar?"

Sounds of combat can be heard coming from the gate's two towers.

"Traitors!" Someone yells in the distance.

Inside the Candle Shop:
Akos senses them coming. They don't try to sneak their way up into the shop, but they do move to flank the doorway. Akos knows there are at least two of them. He doesn't know how many more will come up through the trapdoor.

He hears blades being drawn as they move into the adjacent room.

Round Two Begins:
Falen and Tim keep there eyes on the dwarf mercenary and the roguish thug. They seem to be waiting for something.

"Now!" The two Exemplars hear a voice shout from behind them. Falen glances back to see a man moving out of the small market into the open. The man moves incredibly fast. Falen can tell he's hasted. The man covers the distance to him and Tim blindingly fast and then Tumbles to be right next to the unseen seer.

A woman also steps out of the shadow of the building, which is across the street from the other side of the candle shop. She is a dwarf woman and is carrying a blowgun. Falen's blood goes cold. He recognizes her immediately. She is one of The Dusk who tired to kill him in Tânger. She stops in the street and fires a dart at Falen. It hits the tree instead of him.

The male assassin glares at him and addresses him as Nathaniel. "Phelix will reward us with your death, Aceron."

OOC: @Aust Thale, what is the DC to see through Falen's disguise?

Meanwhile...
On the other side of the shop, the Loyalist hit by Tuck's vial of acid tries to skewer the kobold urban ranger through the window. The other Loyalist pulls out a black and red flask and tosses it through the window at Vinny. The vial hits Vinny in the chest and flames engulf the Sectarian.

"Damn!" vinny shouts as the flames burn him.

OOC: All rolls on the OOC thread.

"Akos! "What is going on back there?" Vinny yells.

"Shopkeeper is coming, fleeing! She'll let Tim inside. There are two creepers in here. Worry about the front door!" Akos yells back
Stepping away from the curtain and drawing his dagger, he triggers the wand, coating the space in front of him and the room behind the curtain in the essence of slipperiness.

Move: draw silvered dagger and 5' step away
Standard: trigger the wand

Last round standard: @Knightfall Akos didn't just take the wand, he activated his armor skin

Falen:
The Dusk assailants suddenly joining this fight has his attention. “I’m not the fop you think I am, Dust,” intentionally mispronouncing the closest assassin’s name.

Choosing among a set of rough choices, Falen deftly tumbles in riposte to the Dusk assassin’s closing the gap toward Tym and Falen. His movement wasn’t quite graceful, but the repositioning behind Tymbeck and to the opposite side of the assassin was tactically sound. Drawing the Venom Dagger from the makeshift belt as he tumbles, Falen engages the Dusk assassin.

He’d given this some thought when he requested the weapon. The act of using poisons was arguably “evil”. And though Falen thought such labels arbitrary and typically self-serving, he understood from whence the notion came. It distressed him.
Vexed him. He could attack with the magic dagger without invoking poison, so there was that. However, the Dusk presence in this fight turned up the significance of the threat. Tym had engaged the mercenaries, and therefore was vulnerable to the fast-moving assassin. He made this particular decision and damn the consequences. Dispassionate in the moment, it would undoubtedly grieve him later.

He attacks the Dusk with the full intent of slaying the assassin by any means necessary. The weapon is wicked looking, almost something an orc…or a hobgoblin… would wield, ornate with dark designs on the blade and an extremely rare red onyx in the pommel. The blade sported a hollow spot, carefully crafted such that the blade wasn’t weakened. That hollow spot ran the length of the blade to the tip. It’s where the poison would originate. The briefest flicker of doubt ran through his mind before he finished his strike, slashing at a gap in the assassin’s armor where the underside of the shoulder was exposed in the joint. The blade struck true. He squeezed the dagger and whispered in Draconic, “Off with you now.” Perhaps the poison would be paralytic. That would have to suffice in the moment.

Tumble:
Tumble vs Assassin DC 15: 1D20+8 = [19]+8 = 27

Attack:
Attacks Dusk with Dagger of Venom +9 total attack bonus : 1D20+9 = [15]+9 = 24

Dagger Damage 1d4+3; unaware of venom damage or sneak : 1D4+3 = [3]+3 = 6

Additional Damage Per DM:
Dagger of Venom vs Assassin damage : 2D6 = [5, 2] = 7

The assassin raises an eyebrow in wonderment and then his eyes go wide. "You!"

The blade sinks in deep and the effects of its power against humans is noticeable. The blade seems to burn and tear the flesh of the assassin. The man hadn't expected such a wicked attack from Falen. The blade shimmers green and poison is pumped into the man's shoulder. He reels and his breathing becomes heavy, but he steadies himself and the poison doesn't seem to hurt him.

"You will pay for that, seer," he sneers. "Either by my blade or the countless blades of my order."

The dwarf mercenary steps towards Big Tim and swings his axe with great strength and agility. Before Tim gained his new ring, the blow would have hit him, but he is able to move quicker and block the blow with his shield. The dwarf looks... shocked. He resets and swings again but it is more awkward.

"You are a more challenging foe than I was told. Good. All the better. If I'm to die today, knight, it will be a good death. Now do your worst!"

OOC: Since this is also a humanbane weapon, the damage should be +5 against the assassin. It should be 1d4+2 (Str) +5 (enhancement) +2d6 (humanbane), so...
[3]+2+5 = 10 + 7 = 17

Dusk Assassin - Save vs. Falen's Humanbane Dagger of Venom (DC 14): 1D20+4 = [11]+4 = 15 (saves)
-- The assassin must make another save at the same DC in 1 minute (10 rounds) to avoid secondary effect.
So, that's Falen's use of the poison ability of the dagger for this day. He can only use it once per day.

Dwarf Mercenary - Full Attack vs. Tim: 1D20+10 = [16]+10 = 26 (miss)
1D20+5 = [10]+5 = 15 (miss)

Tuck is angry. He can't stand these Loyalists and mercs. They have caused such grief for Bluffside. He grins and unshoulders his light crossbow and quickly loads and fires. He fumbles the weapon a bit, so the bolt hits the window frame. He quickly loads again and breathes. He aims and fires more carefully the second time and the bolt flies through the propped open window and thumps the Loyalist in the chest.

The man yells in pain and Tuck's grin becomes wicked.

Out in the street the Elite halfling guard, Zenpher, tries to take advantage of the merc's dropped blade and slashes out twice with his longsword. The mercenary dodges the Elite's clumsy attack and Zenpher nearly drops his sword. Only his quick reflexes keeps him from losing it on the ground and his second swing is also easily avoided.

OOC: Tuck's attacks on OOC thread.

Zenpher - Full Attack (Longsword): 1D20+10 = [1]+10 = 11 (critical miss) :LOL::ROFLMAO:
1D20+5 = [8]+5 = 13 (miss)

Zenpher - Dexterity check (DC 10): 1D20+4 = [19]+4 = 23 (doesn't drop his weapon)

Vinny ignores the flames buring him. He draws Lil' Vinny and stabs at the Loyalist through the window. It is a powerful strikes that the Loyalist wasn't expecting from the Sectarian. The blade punctures the man's torso and blood trickles from the wound.

"Ahh!" The Loyalist shouts out in pain.

OOC: Dice rolls for Vinny on the OOC thread.

On The Wall:
The loyal Regular guard drops his crossbow and charges the traitor while drawing his short sword. He tries to drive the blade into the traitor's gut but the man blocks the attack with his own sword. The traitor counters and slashes a deep wound into the Regular's torso.

The other Regulars guard takes aim at the revealed doppelganger and fires his crossbow. The shot is a poor one and the bolt bounces off the cobblestone street. The guard begins to reload his crossbow. He can hear loud shouting in the tower. He glances at the trapdoor that leads up onto the tower. So far, no one is coming to help him. Hopefully, someone won't be coming to kill him.

On The Street:
Captain Camburn looks at the foes arrayed against him and his fellow guards. There may be too many for handle without help. The Lord Commander told him to signal for aid if he felt it was required. "Elites! Stand your ground!"

He takes a step back and produces a horn from his belt. He blows three sharp blasts. A signal to other Elites that are loyal to Oakfirst and The Five. He knows it will take some time for reinforcements to arrive, so he steels himself for the attacks to come.

OOC: More Bluffside Elites will arrive in four rounds to help with the fight on the street.

Rounds: 2D3+1 = [2, 1]+1 = 4

On the Street:
Big Tim quickly counters the dwarf's attacks. He shifts his footing and swings his blade with all his might. The dwarf tries to dodge the strike but Tim manages to catch the dwarf's shoulder with a deep wound. The dwarf bares it and bares his teeth with an evil grin. Tim tries to smack that stupid grin off the dwarf's face, as he brings his sword around again and then tries to slam Rizvan into the dwarf's face.

However, the dwarf mercenary sees those blows coming. Even without a shield, he blocks Tim's sword strike and shield bash with his axe and other forearm. he laughs manically. There is wildness in dwarf's eyes.

"Now, it's getting interesting!" He yells at the sky.

On the other side of the shop, Custodio moves to cover the captain while he calls for reinforcements and tries to take off the female merc's head with his warhammer, but she easily blocks it with her shield. Down the street, Petronille moves to engage the Doppelguard, but her sword strike is easily dodged by the canny shapeshifter.

{DM's reply: That's what I figured.}
Vinny hears Akos warning and glances towards the halfling woman as she scrambles to get the keys from under the counter and then rushes back through the door just as Akos peeks around the curtain and activates the grease wand, steps back from the curtain, and draws his dagger.

In the other room, the magic of the wand activates and the floor is coated with a layer of slippery grease.

"Got it!" She finally says.

Akos can see that she has a key ring with several keys on it and that she's going through them to find the right key.

In the front room, Vinny looks at Tuck. "We go this?"

He hadn't meant for it to come out as a question, but Tuck nods his head anyway.

OOC:
Nelie: Move action (picks up key), move action (20 ft.). She cannot reach and open the door this round. Opening the lock is listed as a full-round action, but that probably is for when you don't have a key. At the the very least, opening the door will with the key is a standard action, and opening the door is a move action.

Akos will have to protect her for at least one or two rounds more. She didn't have enough movement to get the key, pick it up, and get back to the door this round.
