D&D 5E L&L for 6/2

(snip) how many times has the management staff turned over since then?
It hasn't, so far as we know (and since above mearls is the c-suite, I don't think there's anything hidden).

If you're going for skepticism, I'd stick with pointing out that D&D management was likely a mere stakeholder as far as the legal team was concerned. (Past tense since I take mearls at his word when he says their plan is already laid out and ready to go.)

Indeed. Judge Judy is a reality TV show optimized for ratings. I wouldn't look to it for actual legal advice!
As far as I can tell, Judge Judy is actually not acting as a judge on the show. The participants agree to abide by her arbitration of their dispute, and she dresses that up in the trappings of a court But the agreement between participants and the production company are that in fact Judge Judy does not need to follow the law, and is free to decide on whatever basis she chooses.

Basing an understanding of how courts work on Judge Judy - or in fact on small claims and family law cases where often judges are encouraged to take a less legalistic approach - is not apt to help with discussions of how courts deal with commercial licensing contracts, even ones offered public.

That news item says "SRD and probably OGL". As far as rumours go, that is not a very big promise. I mean, 4e satisfies it - it has an SRD and a royalty-free licence.

OGL was said. Not GSL. Dias Ex wasn't clear about the difference. The other two were.

However, it was a while ago, and things could have changed. Though none of the three have said anything about being let know things are different.
