Lasting Threat VS Brute Strike

Is there language that specifically prevents the mark from being overridden by another defender?

If not, then I don't see why a second defender can't mark the critter which will make the first mark go away. A creature can only be subject to one mark at a time...

3[W]+Strength modifier damage, and the target is marked until the end of the encounter or until you are knocked unconscious. No mark can supersede this one.

There's a whole series of powers with essentially the same effect. They're obviously intended as anti-BBEG powers by getting them to focus solely on you no matter what's going on. As I said, this can be a good thing or a bad thing, but it's not necessarily universally good. Sometimes bouncing a target between different marks is better, especially if you have a Paladin since they can mark from range. This is not an option with powers like this though.

A nice way to "fix" this power, assuming you are happy with brute strike(I am), is to make the enemy mark the fighter as an effect. And this mark doesn't count as being a mark if another enemies mark the fighter(very bad in this case).

Now you have a power that is kind better, but the enemies can use it to gain some advantage, and make it not strictly better than brutal strike.
