Leif's 1E AD&D Game OOC

I certainly have no problem with that, DeWar. Although, I will say that it occurred to me this morning that each PC could have maybe 1-2 henchmen to round out the party. That might unnecessarily complicate things, though. What do you guys think?

I think I would be happy running one character.

Of course, DeWar, another option is that I could reprise my DM/PC/NPC role with Voris "Ring" Ringersley the cleric. He'd have approximately half the experience of the PCs, so that would make him 2nd or 3rd level, I'm guessing. I see DeWar is in the process of converting Simon from a ranger into a cleric, however, so perhaps there will be no need for Ring after all.

I think I would be happy running one character.

Fair enough, no one will force additional PCs upon you

So that's :

Scott DeWar,
Helfdan,
steeldragons, and
Strahd Von Zarovich,

... who have checked in so far. I guess we'd better give it several more days to see who else does.

The Game

Those are good HP rolls, DeWar! I was going to give everyone the option of taking a fixed value for HP above first level, 7/10 [alternating with 8/10], 6/8, 4/6 [alternating with 5/6], or 3/4, [before the addition of Con bonuses, of course] but your rolls have beat that sum by a bit. [Just by 1, but I'd take it!] What we DON'T want is for everyone to make HP rolls until they can beat the fixed amounts, but everyone can make ONE attempt to do so, posted here, and then opt for the fixed HP value if their rolls are lower, which will, more often than not, be the case.

Just to be clear, it works this way:
Cleric/Druid HP= 8+6+6+6+6=32 at 5th level
Fighter/Paladin HP= 10+7+8+7+8=40 at 5th level
Ranger HP=16+6+6+6+6=40 at 5th level [Note, please, that 5th is the magic level for Rangers! From 6th level on, their HP fall behind those of fighters and paladins]
Thief HP= 6+4+5+4+5=24 at 5th level
Magic-User HP=4+3+3+3+3=16 at 5th level

Evil tidings in the kingdoms!

...more soon....

The Game, Setting the Stage....

The adventurers have, for various reasons that are left to player creativity, found themselves in the city of Fax in The Wild Coast. There they have learned of trouble that has come to the cities of the region borne on the waters of Wooly Bay -- Black-sailed, red-oared ships of corsairs flying the sable and crimson colors of the Bone March have been seizing folks and spiriting them away to parts uncertain, presumably as slaves, sacrifices, or worse.

[OOC: Hang on, hang on! Cool your jets. This is just a preliminary post to make sure that everyone is ready to go. A new thread will soon be started for the game proper, with the meat of this post featuring prominently in its opening post. Also, RG and OOC threads will be opened. Use this thread now to make sure that all are ready to go. We could really use every character and player previously named as a potential member of this game, so those who are already present might want to try to cajole those who are still missing into joining the "fun!" Linda Lawless is my own personal responsibility, so I'll do what I can to get her with the program.]

Lynda Lawless has declined the offer, so we'll have to find someone other than Amaya Kam to kick around this time.
