Leif's Homebrew 4E D&D Game, nee 'Leif's Keep on the Shadowfell' [IC #1] [FULL]

The shifter Khellek will look to Aimhirghin with a wide smile on his face, "It was a long journey, but we made it" he says, relieved that they finally reached the town.

Looking at the guards, Khellek gauges their reaction to the group, then satisfied by their nods, he turns back to the others. "Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I wouldn't mind a drink to wash out the dust of the road from my mouth" he suggests.

Winterhaven, Wrafton's Inn

The Motley Band of Able Adventurers, having entered the town walls of Winterhaven, now make their way to Wrafton's Inn, located right in front of them when they get through the gate.

The place is warm, filled with inviting smells of good, country cooking, and only slightly smoky. There are a good double handful of people in here, which seems a bit strange for a weekday afternoon. It looks as though there's a meeting of some kind in progress, with one man standing at one side of the room, calling out names, and checking people off his list when they answer. The man looks somewhat odd, because he is dressed as a craftsman, but he wears a shortsword over his leather apron. He also can't seem to stop his hands from straying down to the sword's hilt, though you can't help but wonder if he has every drawn it fully from its sheath with the intent to use it.

[sblock=FYI]Interestinlgy, my dictionary says that both "smoky" and "smokey" are correct spellings.[/sblock]

Not wanting to upset the locals, Khellek will grab a seat at an open table and await the conclusion of the meeting before ordering anything to drink. That is, unless someone comes by taking their orders, then he will order a glass of red wine and a haunch of venison (if available).

Aimhirghin sits next to his friend. "The fellow running that meeting looks a little nervous, the way he keeps fingering his sword. I wonder what's up?"

Basher7

Keeping his voice down Basher7 says, "I wonder if perhaps they are up in arms about that band of Kobolds we just trounced on the border of their town? Would it be prudent to inquire what the trouble is or should we settle for waiting to see what might be overheard?"

Elerosse

Sitting with his friends, Elerosse surveys the crowd to see if all appear human or if other races are present. "If we are waited on, we should ask what the meeting is about."

OOC: For questions about the racial makeup of Winerhaven, see post #170.
;)

The crowd in Wrafton's is predominantly human, but there are also a number of Dwarves present, and even one table with two Half-Elves. The Dwarves are distributed almost evenly throughout the room, instead of clustered together in the more usual 'clannish' Dwarven fashion.

A portly, 30-ish barmaid comes to your table fairly quickly. "G'Day, Gents! What can I be a-bringing you lads?"

The 'roll-call' is continuing all this time as well.

Elerosse

Seeing that crowd in the Inn is similar to what was seen on the street, Elerosse will turn to the barmaid and answer, "An ale, bread, and cheese for me. What sort of meeting have we stumbled into? We're not interrupting, are we?"
