Leif's Homebrew 4E D&D Game, nee 'Leif's Keep on the Shadowfell' [IC #1] [FULL]

"Good Afternoon Lord Padraig. Thank you for the offer, I am doing well, I enjoyed the local refreshments already." Khellek replies, standing up to shake the man's hand.

"So the good Corporal Gainly informed us that you could use some help from some individuals?" the shifter asks pointedly.

Lord Padraig

"Yes, indeed I can! I suppose that you've already encountered the kobolds that have turned the old King's Road and our outlying farms into their personal hunting grounds? (I suppose this because most who venture to Winterhaven down the King's Road do so, you know.) Those beasts vex me sorely, yet the villagers refuse to recognize the seriousness of the problem. This 'play-acting' they are doing as our supposed 'militia' is a total joke. They would be cut to ribbons by a determined foe, and I am unwilling to place them in harm's way if I can avoid it. Attacks along the road have grown more frequent over the last few months. Something's stirring the kobolds up. Possibly something serious. Would you gents be interested in taking a commission from me to handle the problem? I promise that I can pay well for your services, and you would also be entitled to keep any spoils that you find, even though the majority of the spoils was probably looted from citizens of Winterhaven."

"What sort of commission are you offering? My friends and I have an errand already, but we might be persuaded to stick around here a bit and help out."

Lord Padraig

"Yes, of course, I understand that busy, well-skilled men such as yourselves are in high demand. The Commission that I speak of is to investigate what has so greatly stirred up the kobold population hereabouts, and to eliminate them as a threat to Winterhaven. I have a good idea of the location of their lair, it's just to the east and south of the village, and I think that a group such as yours would have a good chance of eradicating them all without too much difficulty. And as I said, in addition to whatever loot you find in their lair, I will pay to each of you the sum of 100 pieces of gold."

Aimhirghin turns to his companions.

"What say you, friends? A chance to do some good, make the area safe for travelers and earn some coin to keep us in food and lodging?"

Elerosse (Eladrin Wizard)

"Lord Paidrig, I agree with my companion that we should make the roads safe for travellers and locals alike. When you say that 'something is stirring the kobolds up,' do you know what that something might be?"

Lord Padraig

"Why, I'm sure that I don't know, Sir Wizard! If I did know, then I would have already taken steps to correct the problem .... except, that .... um, I really don't have any soldiers at my disposal of the quality of You Adventurers. And that's why I'm willing to give you this commission, and why I'm so hopeful that you'll accept it!"

Lord Padraig

"Excellent! I am pleased that most of you have so readily agreed to accept the commission! You, Sir Wizard, have not yet expressly agreed to accept my offer, however. Do you also join with your companions is accepting my commission to rid Winterhaven of the kobold menace?"

[sblock=OOC-Padraig]Does it strike anyone else as strange that the Lord of Winterhaven has exactly the same name as a character in JA's game? Or am I mis-remembering something?[/sblock]
