Leif's Homebrew 4E D&D Game, nee 'Leif's Keep on the Shadowfell' [IC #1] [FULL]

Bairwin's Grand Shoppe -- Bairwin Wildarson, prop.

"So, what do you think, Sir Mage? How many of these prime potions will you be needing today for 100 gp each? If you buy three or more, I can make you a much, much better deal!" Bairwin has evidently forgotten already that he is only supposed to have a very few potions that are very, very rare.... One look at his face tells Aimhirghin why, too! [cha-ching!!!!!!!!]

Aimhirghin

"We'll have to earn some coin before we can afford such prices, I'm afraid. We might be able afford one such potion if you could see your way clear to lowering the price a bit. I know it's difficult for you to come by such rare potions out here so I expect to pay somewhat more than I would in the city."

We're done with the stick, time to put some balm on the wounds . . .

The bard puts all of his considerable charm into his voice, projecting understanding and empathy.

[sblock=OOC]I can't seem to find the list of loot from the Kobolds - remind me where it is?

PS - I'm definitely not trying to hog the action here - y'all come on back if you can think of an excuse![/sblock]

Bairwin's Grand Shoppe -- Bairwin Wildarson, prop.

Realizing that such a group of adventurers would make for a very welcome influx of new gold in Winterhaven, Bairwin is quite anxious to make new, paying customers of you. "Tell you what, we can probably get by with allowing you felas to get one potion for a lower price. Make me an offer, please?"

OOC: The kobolds had a whopping 34sp, plus I hope you remembered to bring their weapons and gear to sell, too!

Kobold Loot

I think my previous total was wrong, so here's the whole loot list: (That is, except for the silver, which you should already have down.)

2 short swords
2 small shilelds that look to have been made from big dragon scales
5 spears
15 javelins
5 light shields
1 small suit of leather armor
1 sling and 20 bullets
2 firepots
1 gluepot

Aimhirghin

"Tell ya what . . . we've got a small pile of equipment we took from the last bunch of kobolds we took down. Altogether you could probably sell it for a bit over 100 gold, but truth to tell its a bit of a pain for us to carry around. We'll give you that equipment and glue and firepots for two of the potions.

In addition, I have a proposition for you. We'll likely be here for a while, and if all goes as I think it will we'll be bringing in more equipment to sell and will need more of these potions (among other things). Why don't we make an agreement that anything we have to sell you'll buy from us at about half what you'll be able to re-sell it for, and in return you give us your best no haggle price on anything we buy. You increase your stock and selection at a good price and you're not paying some merchant additional monies to bring goods all the way out here, and we get the peace of mind of knowing we're getting the best deal we can. Mind, we'll know if you're not being honest with us."

[sblock=Leif]That's 50 GP for the equipment at ½ book price, plus the 75 for the glue/firepots. I'm guessing these are potions of healing, so Aimhirghin's offer is worth about 25 GP over book price for the two potions.[/sblock]

"Well, now, that's a-layin' yer cards right smack on the table! I like that! Let me see ...... OK! You've got yourself a deal! Shake on it friend? Oh, and I didn't catch your names?"

Elerosse (Eladrin Wizard)

Taking his turn shaking on the deal, "Master Wildarson, I am Elerosse." With a wink, Elerosse causes the sound of coins jingling to come from Bariwin's pocket. "I need to purchase a weeks trail rations for our upcoming visit to the Kobold lair. What is your best price for that?"

OOC: Ghost Sound cantrip

Bairwin's Grand Shoppe -- Bairwin Wildarson, prop.

Elerosse can just barely tell that his cantrip caused poor Bairwin to soil himself. :(
Bairwin says, "Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. Elerosse!" But, from the look in his eyes, you can tell that on the inside he is saying, 'Oh, Lor'! ANOTHER Wizard!' But, overcoming this implulse, he continues, "Yes, just give me one-and-a-half shakes to get your rations for you. (I'll change me skivvies later.) And they're most excellent! Made by me own wife herself."

OOC: He isn't joking, either! They really ARE the Cadillac of Trail Rations, based on your experience. Lots of fresh vegetables, plenty of roughage, savory nuts, and some very well dried meat that has somehow managed to remain moist!

OOC: Book price minus 5 sp is his "best" price for rations to his New Trading Parnters! 120 bonus xp to all, for the shrewd trading by Aimhirghin! (Please keep your 'oohs,' 'ahhs,' and 'thank yous' confined to the OOC thread, thanks. ;) )
