Leif's Homebrew 4E D&D Game, nee 'Leif's Keep on the Shadowfell' [IC #1] [FULL]

"Reward sounds good. We should go back to town, sell loot, buy new equipment and enter the keep full prepared!"

[sblock=OOC]
Want to buy new axe ;)
I also suggest an extended rest. As some of us have re-invented there characters, that would let start all of us on equal footing.

"This new data is most interesting Douven. And I agree we should venture to the ruin and deal with the cult, but what were these fellows doing here if the cult is there?"

Douven Stahl

"Well as you saw when you first arrived, they were digging, of course! They were excavating the burial site of an ancient dragon, looking for a relic that Kalarel needs to complete his ritual to collapse the seal between this world and the Shadowfell. From the sound of it, they were getting very close to uncovering the thing. You might want to have a look around...."

OOC: No need to go back. We will assume that you scooped up the item in your previous search. It's only described as an "ancient relic," but no details are given, no powers, no value. You might want to leave it with the priestess or maybe Lord Kyle? No need to roleplay it, just tell me in passing, and that will be fine.

"Thanks for your help, glad we got here in time. What do you think we should do with these fools? Bring'em back to Winterhaven for judgement?" Khellek asks the others, after nodding to Douven.

One of the many plot holes in this module unfortunately. It's too bad this was WoTC's first impression of 4e for many people, I really hope Pathfinder somehow collapses and Paizo can go back to making D&D modules as their adventures are so much better than anything put out by WOTC (except Red Hand of Doom in 3.5e) [/sblock]

Bite your tongue! I like 4E as much as anyone and more than many, but Paizo is "following their bliss," so don't wish evil upon them! I just hope Wizards can pull their collective heads from their posteriors before they alienate every remaining player they have!

Yeah, I actually don't wish that at all, I really, really like Paizo and have ever since I began DM'ing as I got my subscription to Dungeon and the stuff I mined from that saved me hours of prep time. They seem to be doing well and I keep hoping the WOTC will feel the pressure to come out with better adventures, but the whole adventure path in Dungeon + the whole line of published modules to date have been...adequate at best. My feeling is that WOTC can come up with some awesome set-piece battles, but their story's are threadbare and a bit railroad-y. OTOH Paizo has deep NPC's (sometimes a bit too much info, but I'd take over paper-thin ones) awesome maps, art, etc, and great stories. I find their "set battles" are usually a bit more lackluster than WOTC though.

Anyways I'm way, way off topic from the game thread here, but I use mostly published modules for my L4W & LEB games here, but it takes a ton of work for me to get them to flow properly. Maybe I should just write them myself or buy a Pathfinder one and adapt it for 4e.... hmmmm maybe I'll try that and see how it goes. I've heard good things about Curse of the Crimson Throne, I'll talk to Mowgli, he's our resident PF expert right? [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I definitely wouldn't go so far as to say 'expert' - just a huge fan :D.

I'll send you a PM so we can avoid hijacking Leif's thread . . .[/sblock]

"All that for this thing?" asks Basher7 holding up the McGuffin. He watches the reaction of the their prisoners as he holds it out. "If they thing this thing can bring the end of the world then we need to put it into safe hands. Perhaps that priestess?"

Considering he adds, "From a logical and tactical perspective we should pursue the Cult. We should move now before they discover we are aware of them."

"Then let's go! Blood will flow!"
