Leif's Homebrew 4E D&D Game, nee 'Leif's Keep on the Shadowfell' [IC #1] [FULL]

[sblock=DM]
The Ritual is from Adventurer's Vault

Transfer Enchantment
With great care and concentration, you carefully strip magical power from one object to imbue it in another.

Component Cost: 25 gp
Market Price: 175 gp
Key Skill: Arcana (no check)Level: 4
Category: Creation
Time: 1 hour
Duration: Permanent

You transfer the magical qualities (properties, powers, and enhancement bonus) of an enchanted item into another object. You must maintain physical contact with both items for the duration of the ritual. The receiving item must occupy the same magic item slot (head, waist, armor, and so on) and be the same type (wand, rod, weapon, and so on) as the original item. The enchantment to be moved must be valid for the receiving item, so that you cannot transfer ranged weapon properties to melee weapons, cloth-only armor properties to chainmail, and so on.
You can transfer an enchantment to an item that already contains a lower-level enchantment, but the receiving item’s previous magic is lost. For example, the enhancement bonus and power of a suit of +1 barkskin hide (5th level) could be placed into a suit of +1 curseforged scale (3rd level), but the scale armor’s existing power is lost in doing so. You cannot transfer an enchantment to an item that already has a higher-level enchantment.

First published in Adventurer's Vault.

[sblock]Ok, fine, but where is Khellek going to learn the ritual? Do Bards get a ritual at L2?[/sblock]

Hoping we can find someone who can cast rituals in town. Perhaps the priestess or a minor mage? Lou's pc can cast the ritual, I'd just need to buy the ritual scroll from someone in town. [/sblock]

With Tarrk getting his axe and Lou's Pc learning the ritual, are we ready to go?

Moving on, then...

As the characters move in and about Winterhaven this time, you notice that the overall mood of the populace seems to have grown more somber. Fewer people are about in the town, and those who are act as if they are nervous or frightened for some reason. One man in particular, Elian the Old, tells you, "Something's changed in the air. Somewhere a door has opened....and it's dark behind that door! At least, that's the dream I had, and I still feel unsettled by it. I don't know why everyone else is acting so strangely."

Do you have any questions for anyone in town before heading to the ruined keep?

Khellek will take a few minutes in seclusion to pray in the temple in Winterhaven, praying to Selune for guidance in this place of darkness. He knew he was supposed to be here, but didn't know what he was to do. He felt something change inside him, the shifter felt a different connection to his god. Selune didn't want just a cleric of hers here, she needed a holy warrior, Khellek was her vassal here. He remained in seclusion for a few hours and wordlessly left his allies for another hour as he moved around town.

When he returned, Khellek was wearing a set of scaled armor instead of his chain and carried a heavy shield and triple-headed flail. "I am ready. We need to stop this darkness" he says confidently.

I've updated Khellek in the RG

I'm ready to go.

OOC: Nice work, renau1g. Anyone else have anything to change or do? I'll plan to advance by tomorrow afternoon or evening unless someone indicates otherwise.

Aimhirghin will walk the streets, finding reasons to engage folk in conversation then steering the talk toward 'uneasiness.' His intent is to find out as much as he can about the situation, and he'll narrow the focus of his questions as he proceeds through the day and gathers the information to do so.

[sblock=Actions]Take 10 on skill checks to gather information. Not sure what skill that falls under with 4E, but his bonuses in Streetwise, Insight, Bluff, and Perception are all between +10 and +12 - giving him between 20 and 22 on whichever of those is needed during his conversations. Diplomacy is only +6, but he can use his 'Words of Friendship' power to boost that to +11 once during each conversation as well.[/sblock]

"By the ... ! Don't come out of that corner and surprise me again! Get a grip on yourself. Just one bad dream and you now you see the end of the world? Urban people!" Tarrk says angrily, always shocked by the weakness and fear in so called civilized lands. He moves into a smithy and returns with another axe with a more broader head and a spike on the other side. "Better!" He confirms after swinging it 2, 3 times.
