Streetwise is the skill you're looking for Mowgli that will get you to a source for the info you're looking for. Insight will help you make sure they aren't lying to you...and of course Bluff will keep them from being scared out of their minds that the world is about to end "No, no ... it's ok, Elian the Old just a little touched in the head. I'm sure you'll all be ok, I promise"[/sblock]

Mowgli

During Aimhirghin's investigation he has occasion to speak to one Valthrun the Prescient, who tells him, "My books and scrolls tell me that the ruined keep was built by the old Nerath Empire to guard the site of a rift to the Shadowfell, a place of darkness and shadows. Not all of the Shadowfell is evil, but this rift apparently connects to an unholy sancutary of Orcus, Demon Lord of the undead. Undead creatures crawled through the opening into the light of day. The Empire destroyed the undead , sealed the rift, and built the keep to guard it. Some nearby villagers think that goblins now lair in the ruin of the keep."

"Logic fails here. Would it not be prudent to maintain a keep of such important responsibility? Perhaps the garrison was distracted by biological impairments."

Evidently, Basher7 was with Aimhirghin when he met Valthrun the Prescient...

Valthrun the Prescient goes on, "Well, now, you see, the guards were in the employ of the Nerath Empire. When the empire fell, pay was a bit slow in coming through, and the guards eventually lost interest in maintaining their vigil in such hostile environs."

Valthrun the Prescient

"If that is what you mighty men undertake to do, you would doubtless earn the undying gratitude of the people of Winterhaven! For my part, I can show you just where to find the Keep, if you do not already know." With that remark, Valthrun takes a map from his satchel and spreads it out for all to see.

OOC: Sorry this map took so long. I should have done this months ago.

The warforged quickly makes a rough copy of the map. "This will be most helpful. Thank you."

OOC: Nice map! I've done lots of tactical maps with Excel, but never an overland map. I'm going to have to try that.

OOC: Thanks! It seemed like the natural thing to do. I think there may be a way to get a sheet of hexes for a map, but that's wayyy over my head at this point. :p And, if you'll remember, I did one way back at the beginning of the Whirtlestaff's game, too, showing the route along the Quail River from Pembrose to Twain. ;)

"So, do we take the big road? Looks good, moving fast and we can maybe kill some brigands to make it more save." Tarrk says enthusiastic.
