Life on Mars

Anyone else watching Life On Mars? It's about a modern day police detective who gets knocked out and "wakes up" in the 1970's. He finds he is still a cop who has just transfered into the local nick.

It's a great show and yet another reason why I almost never watch American TV. ;)

Honestly? I thought it was awful. I watched the first couple of episodes, but couldn't make myself watch any more.

I've watched some bits of it, but it didn't strike me as being very good at all. The one bit I saw that I did like though was when the detective in question brings a TV into the pub and asks if he can mount it on the wall so that the lads can watch football in there and the landlord's response is just priceless!

I've seen it. It usually wasn't bad, and occationally it was good.

(Random observation: I'm pretty sure 70s coppers in England were the models for Terry Pratchett's Ankh-Morpork city guards.)

I like it. Yeah, its quirky, but that's british tv for you. The lead actor is really good in his role and comes off quite beleivable...how DOES one act when suddenly thrust 33 years back in time. Or is he in some deluded coma nightmare. All in all, I like the premise although, I can't see how an american version would stretch out 5+ years (if it became a hit). In England, the show would just end after a season or two....a lot like the 5 year story arc for Babylon 5.

I can make a guess how the series would end...our lead (whose name escapes me at the moment) would catch the criminal in 1973 only to wake up in the hospital in 2006. After he wakes up, he uses the knowledge from 1073 to catch the guy and save the girl in 2006. Then he starts noticing that some of the people he sees on the streets are people from the past...people he knew....and the question will remain...DID he really go back in time?

I started watching it half way through its run, and really enjoyed it - I was a teenager in the time period it reflects, and it gels so well with what I remember from that time (and the difference between police procedure then and now is one of the fun - and shocking - things to watch)

Cheers

Watched it, loved it.

glass.

I'm watching it, I like it, but I think it's getting by mostly on my affection for the characters. Considering how weird the premise is, the actual stories are pretty rote police proceedural stuff.
