What Actors In Specific Roles Are A Joy To Watch for You?

Sometimes and actor lands in a role that they seem made for, and the way they portray that character is just an utter joy to watch. Which actors in which roles qualify as that for you, personally?

Number one (right now) for me is Karl urban as Billy Butcher. He's so great in that role, even when the show sometimes dips in quality. I love almost every second he is on screen and his mannerisms, expressions and delivery elevate some script work that would be pretty questionable if delivered by anyone else.

Karl Urban has impressed me in EVERYTHING I've seen him in. I remember watching Dredd and being super impressed. I was like "Dang.. Who is this guy and why have I never seen him before?" so I look him up on IMDB and realize, I have seen him before.. A lot actually!

A lot of people meme about him as Butcher, and his over-the-top expressions and accent and everything.. But I enjoy every second of it.

So good. I keep meaning to rewatch it but I have major anxiety over existential dread and the ending of the show paralyzed me for days.

Ill watch anything with Walton Goggins. He absolutely killed it as The Ghoul.

I think Jackie Earl Haley was perfect as Rorschach in the Watchmen film. Patrick Wilson was also perfect for Night Owl. Billy Crudup nailed Doc Man. A rare knock out execution by Zach Snyder.

Avery Brooks is a terrific actor. I like how he has a sense of stage presence even for film/television. He is my favorite Star Trek Captain to date and watching him square off with Marc Alaimo as Gul Dukat was pure joy. Special shout out to Louise Fletcher as Kai Wynn, nurse Ratchet, and mother Gallagher on shameless. She was a real treat in every role.
Andrew Robinson played Elim Garrack with so much presence. DS9 is the best Trek!

Toby Stephens was excellent as Captain Flint in Black Sails. A very multidimensional character.

Idris Elba as Stringer Bell in the Wire, and just about everything else.

Damian Lewis in Billions as the foil to Paul Giamati is another prefect pairing.

Oh! Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mcconahuey were at their prime for True Detective.

I don't mean to overstate it. It is very specifically about that one thing -- the inevitability of non-existence -- so it isn't something that causes issues most of the time.

Slightly tangential: Steven Spielberg directing Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is 100% solid gold for me, even in the worst IJ films. Spielberg's strengths really shine with an actor of Ford's skill and physical approach to acting.
