What Actors In Specific Roles Are A Joy To Watch for You?

I think my issue is that all the political satire ive seen in the last few years is pretty shallow caricature stuff. I'd kill for another Dr Strangelove but alas...

Also, part of it is the streaming film template. Seems like the formula for streamers is to get the biggest names possible, cook up a half cocked idea, and just shoot the thing over a long weekend. "Oh a new NF/Hulu/Prime movie with Chris Evans!" and then nobody remembers it a week later.
You're not far off on the "over the weekend" thing. People I know who have experience with the way that streaming productions work talk about how fast they churn stuff out and how tough the shooting schedules are on crew. It's borderline abusive.
Just to clarify, I didn't mean to suggest that it wasn't good. It was just a little too real for me, both in the subject matter and the way they were reacting in a crisis.
No clarification needed. I can see how it could trigger people, hence my comment about dark comedy.

So I thought I would go with three fantastical characters with fantastic actors that absolutely knock it out of the park for me. They kick ass in every scene they are in, absolutely ruling the roost.

Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones
“The Lion does not concern himself with the opinion of sheep”

Toby Stephens as Captain Flint in Black Sails
“I have one regret. I regret ever coming to this place with the assumption that a reconciliation could be found. That reason, could be a bridge between us. Everyone is a monster to someone. Since you are so convinced that I am yours, I will be it.”

I think Soldier was underrated.
And Kurt Russell's performance definitely was. The amount of emotion that he conveyed, while barely moving his face, was remarkable. Like his reaction to receiving his first hug. You could tell the character just wanted to jump out of his skin.

I rewatched (most of) GOT around Christmas time last year, and Tywin really surprised me. I remember hating the character so much during my original watch. Hated his guts.

But on the second watch, I guess I had a different view point. Tywin was such an interesting character. Perhaps it's because he died before it went off the rails, but his character was so compelling. He had such clear goals and motivations. You could see that everything he did, was to try and further the Lannister name, house, and legacy.

And Dance did such a stellar job playing him too. Tywin went from one of my least favorite characters, to possibly my favorite.

Agreed. Also I hope he wasn't paid by the word. I don't think he had a part with so few lines. Soldier was the movie that made me a Kurt Russell fan.
