Logic question with Vader/ Anikin (EP 3 spoiler)

Prior to Sith, I had asumed that force ghosts showed up for the same reasons that "real life" ghost showed up: that the deceased had unfinished business in the mortal world. Or that perhaps that they were the Jedi equivalent of a bhodisattwa(sp?), forgoing acsension for a time to assist those still seeking the path.
Obi-Wan (and later Yoda) stayed beind to guide Luke, and Anakin comes back to see his children with the veil of the dark side lifted.
Now that it's been revealed that this is actually a force ability, I'm inclined to think that either anakin was powerful enough the discover the ability for himself, or the others helped him along.

Well, Qui-Gon was supposed to have a very different, very unorthodox outlook on the Force, which is presumably how he discovered that technique.

Obi-Wan was taught by Qui-Gon, and was part of that training lineage, which certainly helped him learn that. Now, Obi-Wan appeared to be more conventional, but he still knew Qui-Gon's unusual views on the Force, he could have passed that down to Anakin, and combined with some of Palpatine's views on immortality and his own raw talent as the Chosen One he could have figured it out.

You're forgetting one thing about Anniken/Vader. The bionics was not the only thing keeping Vader alive. Half the job of keeping the body going was coming from the Dark Side from Vader's desire for revenge on the universe.

When Vader realized the compassion and love from his son, released the dark emotions filling him, and embraced the Light again, the knowledge he had learned of how to merge his life with the Force still existed. Since Anniken was no longer a slave to the destructive side of his nature, the Force was willing to embrace him in the ghostly state.

Vader had plenty of time between A New Hope and Return of the Jedi to get at least some idea that he could become a force ghost.

When Obi-Wan disappears, Vader roots through his empty robes in a kind of "WTF? Where the heck did he go?" manner.

Then there's the fact that Palpatine and Vader were looking for just that sort of thing since Anakin's fall to the Dark Side.

Between Anakin's quest for immortality and seeing Obi-Wan disappear, he was able to figure out the technique - the problem was that he couldn't use it because it was only available to those who called upon the light. Come the end of Jedi, he's cleansed the darkness from his heart, and thus removed the one road-block he had preventing him from joining with the Force like Yoda and Obi-Wan.

My theory:

Yoda (in EpIII) is not just talking about turning into a ghost, he's talking about the technique to contact the spirits of dead Jedis too.
Then, when Obi-Wan is teaching Luke, he teaches him the same techniques (off-camera). And that's the reason only Luke (and Yoda) - and nobody else, not even Leia - can see the force ghosts.

Granted, that's not a very solid theory... but neither is the pure "train-to-be-a-ghost" theory (IMHO). Another aspect of Star Wars that seems slightly wrong...
