Waa, not so loud!
When were you thinking of doing this? I'll be getting out of school soon (end of the week) and will likely have a lot of free time then. I've never done a game over the internet before, but it could be fun! I like showing people things I enjoy!
Haha, sorry. I didn't even see it was that big, it's small now.
We thought of it about a week ago. We have been reading the basic rules, but we have no idea where to start. We can't even fill in our character sheet properly.
Thank you for wanting to help us! Should I PM my Skype name, or do you prefer other software?
Well ever since my hard drive failed a few years ago, I never got around to reinstalling Skype. I'll have to see if I still remember my password and everything (I'll probably be able to guess it), but Skype should be fine. In the meantime, we can talk on this thread to help with the setup.
So you're having trouble filling out the character sheet? What sort of character idea do you have in mind?
Okay, good to know^^
Yes, I do. I'd like to be a Wood elf ranger, those are my favorite race and class in RPGs, I did an alignment test, and it said chaotic evil, so that's cool too.

Ah, so one of you has the Player's Handbook, then? You won't find rules for rangers in the Basic Rules; they only have fighter, wizard, rogue, and cleric.
Anyway, the first thing you'll want to do is generate ability scores and figure out which ones you want to be highest. For a ranger, that'll be Dexterity (to help you aim better with bows and finesse-based melee weapons) and Wisdom (to power your spells and help you track enemies). You can generate six numbers to plug into the six ability scores by rolling dice (roll four six-sided dice, add together the highest three, do that six times) or just use the numbers 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8 in any order you like (using each number once). There's also a point-buy thing where you get a pool of points and decide how to distribute them among your ability scores, in case you want better control over the numbers.
Being a wood elf makes you very well-adapted to being a ranger, as they get +2 Dexterity and +1 Wisdom. So, for instance, if you put the 15 in Wisdom and the 14 in Dexterity, you'll end up with a 16 for both.
As for the other four ability scores, fill them in with the remaining numbers however you like:
High Constitution will give you extra HP and help you endure things like poison and disease.
High Strength will let you carry extra gear and perform athletic feats like jumping, swimming, and climbing.
High Intelligence will make you better at recalling lore and stuff.
High Charisma will improve your ability to interact with other characters.
A good guideline if you're unsure of where to get started is to check the "Quick Build" section of the class description you plan to take. They have some nice little guidelines like which ability scores are important to the class, or some suggestions for spells to learn. Even I still read those sometimes, just to help get my thoughts in order. Your friends should be able to use those sections to get the same basic advice about their chosen class that I gave for the ranger.
If there's anything in particular about character creation that's confusing you, feel free to ask.
