looking for a module with command over a strike force/army whatever !

Lannister

First Post
Hello,

I am looking for advice on a module where the players or one of the players ( a Paladin ) can command a small strike force, army, outpost, hold a pass against a coming army, you get what i mean.
Sopmething Like the Bloodstone pass series .
Character Levels are 6-7, but i`ll take any cause i can modify them.

Can anyone recommend one to me ?

Thanks in advance,
L.

FRQ2 Hordes of Dragonspear

or I14 Sword of the Iron Legion

or X10 Red Arrow Black Shield

Thank you,

And which do you think is best ?
I tried a google search for reviews on these three, but it did not yield good results, maybe bec. thery`re too old.

Thanks in advance,

FRQ2 was pretty bad (based on a read, not playing it) both in playability and in ties to the Realms. I10 was pretty good, although it's not well integrated with the Realms either. X10 was very good, if I remember correctly, although it's been a long time. (It was for basic D&D, set in the world of Mystara.)

If you're willing to put some work into the Hamlet of THumble could work. It's for lower level characters, but the idea is to defend a village from raiders. One could increase the raiders to an army and increase the defenses of the village to make it more like what you are wanting.

Thank you,

My campaign is not based in either FR or Mystara, so i would have to adjust it to my campaign be that as it may.

`What would fit, would be if it were nomads, barbarians or else attacking through the mountains.

Which of these would fit th best do you think ?

Red Arrow, Black Shield is very tightly linked to the world of Mystara - you couldn't take anything but the barest outline of it for anywhere else. It also involves a continent-spanning war, which may be more than you want...

Siege on Ebonring Keep is set in Monte Cook's Diamond Throne setting and would require a lot of converting...but it does have a siege.

You're probably best off writing your own - it would not be that difficult.

Not that this necessarily meets the parameters you've specified, but... U3 / The Final Enemy (older mod available at SVGames, etc.) features the party commanding a strike force consisting of themselves, some humans, and some lizardmen. Within the context of the module you could easily add other races to that mix (sea elves, locathah, other PC races like dwarves or elves...).

Well my campaign is a sort of medieval one, with few magicians, cause some sort of Magician Lords once had the people enslaved, thats why magicians are rare, clerical Magic however is abundant, cause the churches are very powerful.

What I`d really like were an adventure or a series of adventures in which the party, especially the paladin is sent out to deal with a new military threat.

It would be really cool if these adventures could deal with a siege, breaking
a siege whatever. My goals is to make the Paladin Character a War-hero,n cause from there on i would continue with my political campaign.

With some level adjustment Gryphon Rock by Gaslight Press could work. Assault on a keep being held by hobgoblin bandits with a few twists.

UK3 the Sentinel ends in a large battle IIRC.
